Zebra Bites Girl On Shoulder At Animal Safari Park (VIDEO)

Meagan Sweatman was getting ready to pose for a picture with a zebra at a safari park, when she learned what we're going to call today's lesson: Don't tease a zebra with food.

Food, in this case, was the one thing this zebra had on its mind. So when Sweatman pulled away for just a moment, the animal lost its cool and bit her. Noticeably in shock, Sweatman turns to the driver and exclaims "It bit my shoulder! Oh my god!"

The video has become a viral sensation on YouTube, and Sweatman even appeared on NBC's "TODAY" on Friday morning to talk about her experience.

On the show, Sweatman said she originally uploaded the video to share the funny footage with family and friends, not knowing how far it would eventually go.

She also mentioned that a worker at the park gift shop later gave her ointment to put on the bite.

This wasn't the first time a guest at a drive-thru safari park had a close encounter with a zebra.

In 2010, one of the animals approached the Taylor family's car as they were making their way around the park. And although it didn't bite anyone, it flaunted its teeth and "let out" a pretty remarkable noise that gathered some attention.

Zebras are herbivores and usually travel in herds, according to the African Wildlife Foundation.

There are three species of the animal: Grevy's Zebra, Mountain Zebra and Plains Zebra, which are the most common.

A baby Grevy's Zebra named "Terri" was born at the Bronx Zoo in New York in early 2011.

The species is endangered, according to the ICUN Red list of Threatened Species. First listed as endangered in 1986, the worldwide population of Grevy's Zebras is estimated to have dropped by more than 50 percent over the past 18 years
