The Super Bowl is right around the corner; for those of us hosting parties it is time to start planning out the menu. Many of us feel that dessert is the best part of any meal, and so it's important to not forget about these sweet treats come game day. But not just any dessert will do. The last thing you want is to have your attention divided between the dessert you want to be enjoying and the football game you are trying to watch.

That's why the only reasonable type of treat one can serve for the big game day are cookies and bars. And while that means that you shouldn't be baking a cake or throwing a pie into the oven, don't think for a second that your options are limited. We have assembled an abundance of recipes that fit into the category of desserts you can eat with your hands. From deep-fried candy bars to cheesecake brownies to peanut butter cup cookies, click through the gallery below to find what treat you'll be whipping up for this year's Super Bowl.

If you want to make em sick, I'm sure they wont forget it. Sounds awful to me. Think I'll stick to frying catfish and taters. Maybe some wings on the grill if it'll stop raining. If not,the oven works fine, then into the crockpot to tenderize em some more.

Fooling some people sometimes is all it takes.

Who cares about health for the Super Bowl? You are allowed to live once a year. I'm going for the deep fried candy bars ... Oh. My. Gawd.

I AGREE WITH DONNA WITH A DEE, JUST TRY THE DARN THING OR LEAVE IT ALONE, NOBODY'S FORCING YOU TO EAT IT.

It's called more money in the pocket for food manufactures who don't give a rats a** about our health!

How about moderation and mini-sized candy bars on a toothpick? And then limit yourself to one. It is called self-discipline, which all diabetics and dieters need to stick to a plan.
How many of you poo-pooed the candy bar smoke? Drink?

Actually, I really like your suggestion, stripped of the snide comment. Anyone who wants to can eat several and those who don't want a whole candybar can still have a taste. A good idea!

Sorry about the snide comment...just meant that people pick and choose what they think is healthy and unhealthy. Of course, unhealthy does include a lot of things and not just limited to food choices. It wasn't meant to point fingers, though.

Food Police, sounds like you all have sticks up your keister! Seriously, if you dont want to eat it that's your prerogative but stop giving everyone else such a hard time!

P.S. Let me know if anyone actually dies from a heart attack after eating a fried candy bar!!! I do agree w/someones suggestion of cutting the treat into bite size pieces to be eaten with a toothpick though!

One of my favorite snacks is the pickle rollups. Take 2 of the square thin sliced (very thin) lunch meats & spread cream cheese on one of them. (Use 2 slices for extra thickness so it doesn't fall apart) Cut a large dill pickle in quarters lengthwise & roll up 1 qtr pickle in the lunch meat. Cut into 4 pcs & stick a toothpick in each piece. Use fat free cream cheese to save extra calories. They're yummy.

Just looking at the photo makes me want to gag. A candy bar once in awhile probably won't kill you .... but deep fried? Disgusting. If you must add some "crunch" to this concoction, skip the deep frying. Let the candy bar soften a bit and then press it into some rice crispies. Then, stick it into the fridge for about 20 mins. I saw someone do this at a birthday party years ago and then slice the candy bars up into bite-size servings. I think this would be less lethal than the deep fried mess in this recipe.

Now if Paula Dean had prepared this everybody would be up in arms about it.

Sounds yummy to me but I'd probably have to eat it on the ER steps.

It might be a better idea rather than put it on a stick like that, making it look like an individual serving, is to cut it up into bite-sized pieces and serve it that way. I can't imagine being able to eat a whole one.
03:42 PM on 02/04/2012
Good idea except that the candy bar inside is melted and will ooze out of bite size pieces. Spmepone suggeste mini candy bars.which will work better.
