In-N-Out Pops In To Australia N' Pops Out Just As Quickly

Posted: 01/24/2012 2:16 pm

There's no argument that In-N-Out has a cult-like following -- part of the reason people are so dedicated is that In-N-Out only exists on the West Coast, and in Texas. Last month though, the burger joint popped up in Shanghai, for select guests. Now, the chain set up shop for one day in Sydney, Australia, inside Mexican restaurant Barrio Chino.

In-N-Out confirmed the pop-up on Facebook, and warned that quantities were extremely limited. That became abundantly clear as one source claimed the shop ran out in 23 minutes. This doesn't mean that In-N-Out is coming to Sydney permanently, though. The company said on Facebook:

We have done events like this before in other countries and they are just one part of our efforts to promote and expand our brand as well as determine the best way to continue reaching out to customers around the world. We do not have any immediate plans to open a permanent restaurant there but this special event will help us make future decisions.

Serious Eats points out that menu prices were slightly higher in Australia than they are in California, though the grub looked quite familiar.

Saw this special event advertised in The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, in the Good Living section. Arrived to a short line at Barrio Chino at 1.30pm only to be told if we did not have a number we could not be catered for. What a joke! The event was advertised to finish at 4pm. Very frustrating that they could not keep up with the demand.

In-N-Out is the very best as someone who grew up near the one in Pasadena, the smell is all i need to feel at home, of course if you eat a combo get to the gym your gonna need an hour on the stairmaster but they are worth it, if anyone has another fast food burger joint thats up to the challenge....bring it......five guys are trying but ask the workers at the two places that are next to one another in Long Beach and they will tell you NC=No Contest, In-N-Out slams them daily.

Try Whataburger. Best fast-food burger by far. BTW, I wouldn't consider Five Guys fast food...

In 2 years we will all be wondering how a multi-million chain seller burgers slightly less greasy than McDonald's temporarily became a foodie darling.

Pretty cool of them to do this, but I maintain that In-N-Out is way overrated. Not sure what everyone sees in them that I don't.

It is fast and cheap. I mean, it's fast food but there are no preservatives and nothing is frozen. I love In N Out for what it is, but I would never say they have the "best" burger in town.

It is cheap, yes, and I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. As for fast, that's debatable, since the cult of In-N-Out draws so many people, and the drive up lines and restaurants are so stuffed that getting, for lack of a better expression, in and out of them quickly is not easy.
