Jason Richardson Comes Off Bench During Play In Magic-Celtics Game (VIDEO)

How Did Magic Get Away With This?

Not much went Orlando's way in Monday night's 87-56 loss to Boston at the TD Garden. The Magic set franchise lows for points and field goals despite the Celtics playing without Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen.

Boston dominated with such ease that you might have even thought that they had an extra player on the court. And, for part of least one play, you would be correct. Even more amazing than Boston having an extra player on the court, though, was the way that Orlando remedied the situation. How did they get away with this?

Down 15 with the Celtics running their half court offense, Magic guard Jason Richardson was sitting on the bench when he realized there were only four Orlando players on the court. After Paul Pierce passed the ball to center Greg Stiemsma in the corner near Orlando's bench, Richardson walked on to the court -- not checking into the game via the scorer's table during a stoppage -- and knocked the ball out of his hands. The ball trickled out of bounds and possession went back to Boston. Despite the fact that a player had come right from the bench onto the floor, the referees didn't do anything about the incident.
