Oscars: Which Post 50s Are Among 2012 Academy Awards Nominees?

Which Post 50s Snagged Oscar Nominations?

Oscars excitement is back, and a number of nominees are proving that midlife is just as good a time as any to shine in Tinseltown. Among the 2012 Academy Awards nominees are several post 50 actors, actresses and directors, including such notables as Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Glenn Close.

According to Reuters, Streep responded to her Oscar nod with this statement: "I am honored to be in company with such beautiful artists, and touched deeply by my fellow actors for their generosity in giving me this acknowledgment."

Reuters also reported Close's response to her Academy Award nomination: "I am thrilled for Janet (McTeer), I am thrilled for our incomparable hair and makeup team. It might be my sixth but it feels like my first. Bravo team Nobbs."

Of course, it wouldn't be entertainment without snubs. Post 50 actor Albert Brooks -- who wasn't nominated for his role in 'Drive' -- responded to his snub via twitter:

Who are some of the post 50 actors, actresses and directors who avoided the snub and got the nod? See our slideshow below and weigh in on who you think will walk away with an Oscar on award night.
