Seal Talks Separation From Heidi Klum, Children And Wedding Ring On 'Ellen' (VIDEO)

Though Heidi Klum has been quiet since the Sunday announcement of her separation from Seal, the Grammy-winning artist is breaking his silence, making the talk show rounds.

After filming an interview with Tavis Smiley -- which will air on PBS on Friday -- he sat down with Ellen DeGeneres for an interview that will air on Tuesday, according to ET Online.

"I think we were shocked," he admitted to DeGeneres, sharing the public's sentiment. "Because you go into these things with the greatest intentions. When you say, 'I do,' when you say, ''Til death do us part,' those vows hold value. They're not just words. But these things happen."

The singer explained that he and his supermodel wife simply "grew apart after a while." He added: "You try and you work through it ... You do the best that you can ... The thing that I'm most proud about about this great woman who I married, and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart, is that together, she has given me four incredible gifts, four beautiful children, and she's still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world."

Seal said that he and his soon-to-be ex-wife have one priority: "To remain civil and do this thing with dignity.

"We still very much love each other," he said, noting they are both "grieving" still. "We were never going to follow suit of some break ups or separations that you hear about, especially in our industry."

The refreshingly honest celebrity also opened up about still wearing his wedding band and why he won't be taking it off in the near future. "That is just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We had eight years -- eight wonderful years together -- and just because we have decided to separate doesn't necessarily mean that you take off your ring and you're no longer connected to that person," Seal said. "We will be connected in many ways 'til the rest of our lives ... Right now, it feels very comfortable on my hand and I'm not tempted to take it off anytime soon."

It's the only way to play it. Kids are involved. Be civil. Focus on the good. And allow the present to become what it is.

If they still have these feelings for each other, and really care about the other person, why are they divorcing? It really just sounds like their relationship has evolved, and it simply isn't as passionate.

I've also read she out-earns him and her net worth is way higher. If true, I'm betting he'll be keeping that wedding ring on right through the divorce proceedings, and maybe even dabbing at his eyes in front of the cameras periodically.

"We were shocked" - unless it's truly a snap decision on her part, he must have been asleep at the wheel. Maybe she gave out warnings multiple times but he just wasn't listening.

I just don't get why someone would divorce "the most wonderful woman in the world." Do these people hear themselves? If Heidi is the most wonderful, then anyone Seal connects up with will be all downhill from there! When a marriage begins to get stale that is a sign to go deeper. All marriages have those "down" periods where nothing seems to be happening or much felt. But if you stick it out with a certain generosity of attitude and leeway, it snaps back together again in a deeper and richer way. You rediscover one another and what you rediscover is a little fresh and new. This is natural because nobody at 20 is the same person at 30 -- and on up through time. We all change, but if we leave one another while those changes are taking place underground inside of us, we will never attain that rich, warm, close, invigorating -- and sexy -- long lasting relationship we all dream about.

I agree with you. I wish folks would work harder and look deeper into themselves when it comes to their marriages. Giving up on such a commitment seems too lazy and an easy way out. It's sad when any marriage ends.

I wonder if Heidi Klum interrupts everyone when they're speaking? I have noticed that she never lets anyone finish a sentence, and often two people are talking together AND SHE DOESN'T BACK DOWN. Talk about trying to get a word in edgeways....
