John Cena, WWE Superstar, Grants Most Wishes In Make-A-Wish Foundation History

First Posted: 01/25/2012 8:52 am Updated: 01/25/2012 8:52 am

World Wrestling Entertainment superstar John Cena is used to dominating in the ring, but the pro-wrestler earned a victory completely outside of his championship belt collection Monday. He was honored for granting the most wishes in Make-a-Wish Foundation history, Azfamily.com reports.

The Make-a-Wish Foundation, a nonprofit that makes dreams come true for kids battling life-threatening diseases, honored Cena for granting 250 wishes, the most any individual has ever fulfilled. To show its gratitude, the organization has dedicated a conference room to the WWE at its global headquarters in Phoenix.

"There's nothing greater than seeing a Make-A-Wish child and the Make-A-Wish family get so excited, get so happy and pretty much be welcomed into the escape that is the WWE," Cena told the news outlet. "That's pretty much what it's all about for me."

What a guy! What a great thing for WWE to be encouraging its stars to do! And to think, there are some people far, far wealthier and more famous than he is, who probably couldn't be bothered to give this much back. We need more superstars like this to serve as "role models" to the rest of them.

This is why the Cena heel turn will never happen, unfortunately! It will ruin his out of ring image

Well, that'd be CM Punk at the moment but the reference is appreciated nevertheless.

What people probably don't realize is the amount of time these guys are on the road and away from their families. He probably gets a little more time off now due to his popularity but at one point he was probably on the road over 320 days out of the year. So to take that extra time from that exhausting schedule to make a difference in a child's life is remarkable.

Love or hate wrestling, this is something truly inspiring by John Cena. It takes a special individual to give up that much time in order to fulfill extremely ill kids dreams of meeting one of their heros. I have nothing but kudous to John Cena and all those like him who dedicate their time for worthy organizations like Make a Wish. Great job John and keep up the great work your doing!!!!

He's a class act. People can knock pro wrestlers all they want, but at the end of the day most wrestlers are incredibly talented athletes and can be (especially in John Cena's case) a rallying point for good causes.
