Johnny Depp, Vanessa Paradis Split: 5 Other Long-Term Couples Who Broke Up

Vanessa Paradis recently denied allegations that she and Johnny Depp had split after 14 years together, People magazine reports.

When asked about the break-up rumor by French TV show "Grand Journal" Tuesday, the 39-year-old actress said: "Yes, they [the rumors] are false."

The couple, who have spent the majority of their life together in the southern French town of Plan-de-la-Tour, have two children together, 12-year-old Lily-Rose, and 9-year-old Jack.

In December 2010, Depp told "Extra" that he didn't need a "piece of paper" to prove his commitment to Paradis, musing that "marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart."

Their rumored split brought to mind other never-married celebrity couples who stayed together for years, only to call it quits in the end. Below, some of those couples' stories.

well its about gawd damn time!...................I stopped following him long ago...alll hes good for is 1 thing and not the kind of long termed commitmewnt...he can not be held down..hes just way too good for that...common now.... whatever....i only like his acting in "fear and loathing" that was it

Most of the time when there are denials from the public figures in question, the actual split happens not too far down the road, seems to me about 80% or more of the time. Just a couple of recent examples off the top of my head, Demi and Ashton, J-Lo and Marc, Maria and Arnold......the one recent example that is contrary to this that I can think of is Will and Jada, so far.

I'm sure if everything were fine Vanessa would just ignore the rumors; however maybe if desperate to save or hang onto the marriage she would issue these denials in a last ditch attempt.......to stave off the impending........who knows.

Yes ,since I have been on this site the decline has been self evident , and it continues to grow .
AOL really took the last of it out . It used to be an interesting group of informed people willing to discuss issue's and learn , ponder , create new opinions , not so much anymore , bummer .

Why would any thinking person even bother with commitment?
