'Whitney': Kathy Griffin Guests As Roxanne's Work Enemy's Assistant (VIDEO)

Kathy Griffin Is Roxanne's Foe On 'Whitney'

Struggling to find work as a photographer, Whitney jumped at the chance to be Roxanne's assistant on "Whitney" (Wed., 8 p.m. EST on NBC). She had no experience in doing office work, but when she found out one of Roxanne's priority missions for her was to spy on her work-nemesis, Whitney figured she could do that.

Spying on the enemy included spying on his assistant, played by Kathy Griffin. Whitney decided on the friendly approach, which Griffin's character took as her attempt at flirting. While she admitted to being gay, she clarified that Whitney wasn't even close to her type. Whitney quickly said she was gay too and also in a relationship, oddly finding that she could describe Alex pretty accurately as a lesbian woman.

The two hit it off pretty well socially, but Whitney still couldn't get any scoop on the editor's plans for the Valentine's issue. He works on the web side while Roxanne is on the print side, thus the natural animosity. Whitney thinks she's done good when he admits he's stuck with what to do, and a stack of horrible pictures.

Unfortunately, both she and Roxanne find out that Whitney's pithy comments and put-downs about the photos were a stroke of genius to the editor, who posted the photos with her comments as captions. The feature was a hit and Roxanne was mad. At least until she realized she could use Whitney's "genius" for her own gain as well. So it looks like Whitney keeps the job, but does that mean "Whitney" keeps Kathy Griffin?

Find out as "Whitney" continues Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
