'The War Room with Jennifer Granholm' Goes Inside Obama's Campaign War Room

First Posted: 01/27/2012 4:47 pm Updated: 01/28/2012 11:49 am

Current TV is getting ready to debut its newest show. "The War Room with Jennifer Granholm" premieres Monday, January 30th at 9 p.m. ET.

The show will focus exclusively on the 2012 election. In the first episode, host Jennifer Granholm -- the former governor of Michigan -- will take a look at the Obama campaign war room in Chicago. She will also be talking to 2012 Massachusetts Senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren and former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, who will be talking about Obama's re-election strategy. Get a glimpse of the program in the clip above.

Regular segments will examine approaches to government policies, the influence of money in the election and the state issues at the top of the national agenda. Writer and producer Brett Ehrlich will also provide a comedic look at political news in his segment, "Shush, Brett’s Talking."

Granholm's program will join Current TV's flagship program, "Countdown With Keith Olbermann." Olbermann debuted on the network after his departure from MSNBC last year. He recently resolved his feud with Current over the network's election coverage.

so that explains why she had al gore and the marxist van jones on talking about how driving SUVs is causing "dirty weather." does anyone actually watch this show? If I did, Id watch it for comic relief

Saw the first show. Granholm’s sometimes halting delivery doesn’t translate well on TV. Perhaps she was just nervous. Enjoyed the interview with Elizabeth Warren. Gutsy move on Current TV’s part to put her up against Rachel Maddow at 9pm. After viewing The War Room’s premiere, I found myself missing Rachel’s more in-your-face snark. Cenk’s The Young Turks would probably give Rachel stiffer competition.

But, but, this nation exists to provide aid and comfort to its richest citizens not to protect and foster the ability of any common voter to provide food, clothing and shelter to his or her progeny.

Come on rifght wingers, back me up on fighting against this stupid notion that this or any nation should watch out for its non-rich citizens and their welfare. The peasants must accept their miserable lot in life.

Good show! MSNBC was not watched until Keith brought it to the forefront. He can do the same here. Jennifer and Cenk were great picks, and Bill Press and Eliot Spitzer could deliver a homerun.

I wrote this before Keith got fired. MSNBC ratings are going up as Faux News ratings are going down. Cenk has a lot of viewers, and is outstanding on the internet. Also, since CNN hired Tea Partiers, their rating are way down.

I don't get Current on my cable provider, but I think Gov Jennifer Grantham is great. I've seen her with her husband interviewed on other programs and she seems she ACTUALLY has her ducks in ONE row. How refreshing.

yes and she did wonders for the state of michigan, if you think unemployment and poverty is a good thing

It depends on whom you ask. According to Current TV executives, he's on vacation . . . the same vacation he's been on for the better part of two months now. According to him, he's waylaid by Bronchitis. Apart from what other conclusions can be drawn from these stories and their fundamental dissimilarity, I think it's safe to say that we're dealing with people who can't keep their stories straight.

It is too bad butt the independent voters that voted Obama before will not be coming back and it will get worse over Eric Holder scandals.

http://quinnipiacpoll.wordpress.com/2011/09/07/can-president-obama-win-the-independent-vote/

President Obama’s job performance in all three of these key swing states. In Pennsylvania 56 percent disapprove, while only 40 percent approve; in Florida 52 percent disapprove, compared to 42 percent who approve; in Ohio 54 percent disapprove, while 42 percent approve. While these are not good numbers for the President, he still has 14 months to turn them around.

Granholm is extremely smart, but it'll be hard for her going up against Rachel Maddow. They should've put her against one of Chris Matthews 2 hours.

Both shows air multiple times per day, so it should be no problem, even without considering dvr's.

As a life-long resident of Michigan....I cannot believe the post suggesting she should run for higher office! Clearly none of them had to live through the dismantling of our state's economy. She is a joke who had her hand on the flush handle for far too long. Michigan suffered greatly under her leadership.

Can't wait to see who else Keith and Al add to the network. I think they need more hard news during the mornings, afternoons, and weekends to compete with CNN and MSNBC. {{-_-}}

Give em a break, they started from nothing -- less than nothing. Takes a while to build a stable. Young Turks is a good start. Granholm is a home run.

You know as well as I do that 'Keith and Al' have nothing to do with it. Current TV's Vice President in Charge of Programming is Shelley Lewis. She's the one who makes these decision.

I think the only thing keeping her from running for President is that she was born in Canada. She gave, in my humble opinion, the most moving of all the speeches at the late president Ford's funeral in Michigan a few years ago. It was brilliant. I wish her well on her new show. Two-term Governor of Michigan--I think she's always looking forward.

Interesting that when Arnold was hot, the GOP was all excited for a constitutional amendment that would let him run for president. Bet they're aren't excited about opening the door for Granholm.

I've noticed the same thing exactly. And she's the smart one. But she's a Dem, so it probably won't happen; maybe that's why she is finding other outlets for her talent--she just wrote a book with her husband about govt.

I wouldn't call signing on with Current TV 'looking forward' . . . unless you *don't* want a career in broadcasting; then it's the perfect network not to have one.
