Speaking to a Lincoln Day Dinner in West Palm Beach for the Palm Beach County GOP, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla) fired off a humdinger of a line that within minutes drew recriminations from Democrats on Twitter.

"We need to let President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, (audience boos) and my dear friend the chairman of the Democrat National Committee, we need to let them know that Florida ain't on the table," West said. "Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else. You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America."

Following cheers, West added, "Yeah I said 'hell.'"

Moments after the quote was mentioned on Twitter, former Reid spokesman Jim Manley responded via his own Twitter feed: "Me to allen west. You first asshole."

And they say politics is getting more acrimonious.

The only difference between West & Hussein is that West would accomplish much more of the in a much shorter time-frame.. He was AWOL when Dr. Col. Lakin ended up in jail..

It often strikes me as amusing that conservatives who spend time in the military feel they have the right to rule who should and should not live in this country. As a former Marine, I don't mind sharing the country with conservatives, though I'm a progressive, or a liberal if I'm in a good mood, even fools like West.

For the most part, today's conservatives do the John Wayne bit, though: no military service, but a fightin' mouth.

I do believe you'd better check your facts! The political aspect that is and will further destroy America are not progressively liberal ideas, but the sheep who will vote Republican despite cutting off their nose to spite their face! The GOP/Republican fascist are clamping down and getting their legislation passed all over the country, and those Rights they are taking away are OURS!!! There will be more too!

President Obama had to spend those funds to pay for the wars and other misbegotten ideas of GWB and regime! We were so close to becoming a third world country when President Obama took over, he had to do many things that did cost money!!

Again, you have no idea what you are talking about! My guess is that you voted for GWB twice! If that's true, you haven't a leg to stand on. And, as far as I'm concerned, you should never be allowed to vote again!!!

Anyone sworn into a governmental office has taken the oath to defend our Constitution. Allen West has just broken his oath.

Unaccountable entrepreneurial freedom is not part of our Constitution. It is not part of ordinary business law. In a civil society everyone is accountable to just and fair practices.

The conclusion one may draw from your comment is that all future stuff like this from GOP Congresspeople is FORGIVEN and IRRELEVANT because figures on the "other side" did it in the past. Does this also mean that all future stuff like this from the "other side" is forgiven, too?

I don't understand your logic. You condemn this behavior by the left, but when it's from the right you give it a pass because "the left did it first?" That makes no sense. If you can set aside your principles individually in order to give figures on the right a pass because the same indiscretion has, in the past, been committed by a figure on the left, your convictions and principles aren't very strong, are they? Which of your convictions and principles can not be discarded with your line of reasoning? Any?

I'm not saying it's right for either side. I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy I see on the left. Another example: Clinton got a pass for sexual harassment, Cain did not.

I'd like to point out that liberals did not condemn Jeremiah Wright when he said "America's chickens have come home to roost" and "God Damn America." In face, they supported his statements.

Show me a Republican who's backing what Allen West said.

I find it interesting that when I "defend" Rep. Allen West remarks, against the Liberals, they

actually response to my positive comments in defense of his "rights" by

using "racial" comments against Rep. Allen. What a Surprise! The Uppity Black man stepped on

a few "Liberal toes" and they are trying to put him back in his "place." Isn't That what Rep. Allen

West meant when he said the Liberals want to put the 'Black people Down' in their place and

when they step out of line, they get attacked by the Liberals.

The Liberals want to Say they are helping the "poor, ignorant" Black people

out of a terrible oppressive country. AND all Rep. Allen West is say is that BLACK People

But there are NO taxes in Ethiopia. If anybody doesn't want to support their share in the US with taxes

You should realize Mr. West that evey white person in that room of sufficient age was against the Civil Rights Act. If it were not for the liberals you told to leave the country you would be sitting in the back of the bus.

The 1960 Civil Rights Act introduced penalties to be charged against anybody who obstructed someone’s attempt to register to vote or someone’s attempt to actually vote. A Civil Rights Commission was created. Yet the act barely touched on anything new and Eisenhower, at the end of his presidency, was accused of passing the thorny problem of voters’ constitutional rights over to his successor. Though the act did little to impress civil rights leaders, they were ready to acknowledge that it was again federal government recognition that a constitutional problem existed.

The Eisenhower civil rights acts added only an extra 3% Black voters to the electoral roll for the 1960 election.

No, it's still ridiculous if you apply critical thinking. It my not be ridiculous in the conservative group-think bubble, but it still is to everyone on the outside.

If only the ignorant poor could see that voting in their best interests, for candidate that promote their grievances and work toward solutions for them, could only see that the interests of the the nation's wealthy are their interests as well: preserving 15% capital gains tax rates, pricing the poor out of health insurance, fighting endless wars on other continents, ending affordable care from planned parenthood in an ideological war to end a woman's right to choose (only 3% of what planned parenthood does), promote anachronistic religious edict as national law...
