20 Shot In Chicago: 10-Year-Old Among Victims Of Weekend Violence

At least 20 people, including one child and several teens, have been wounded so far during a violent and unseasonably warm weekend in Chicago.

The violence began Friday evening and continued into Sunday morning, according to CBS Chicago. On Friday, at least 8 people were wounded throughout the city. A 16-year-old girl was reportedly hit by gunfire in the 4800 block of South Drexel Boulevard about 4 p.m. The shots were fired from a vehicle, and it was not immediately clear whether the girl was the shooter's intended target.

The shootings continued into Saturday, when a 10-year-old girl was shot in the leg after a bullet went through the window of her home, the Chicago Tribune reports. The incident happened in the 1100 block of North Keystone Avenue about 1:40 a.m., and the girl was treated on the scene. No arrests have been made.

On Saturday night, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road, CBS reports. He was listed in good condition.

At least one of the 20 incidents was unintentional, according to CBS:

25-year-old Armando Gutierez was hospitalized in police custody after shooting himself in the leg in the 1000 block of North Christiana Avenue about 8:16 p.m., police said. He and a cousin were handling a weapon in his backyard when the gun discharged, striking him in the left leg, News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. Gutierez, a convicted felon, was taken to Stroger Hospital and charged with disorderly conduct for filing a false police report because he initially told police someone else had shot him, and for violating his parole.
