"We have one of the finest and most recognizable logos in the NFL and wanted to make it as modern as possible without losing the dramatic essence of the mark," said Carolina Panthers President Danny Morrison.

The revision of the logo coincides with Nike replacing Reebok as the official apparel provider beginning with the 2012 season. Interestingly, the team may not have planned to unveil the logo on Sunday. According to Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer, this logo first saw the light of day on a Nike Football Facebook page. Once the cat was out of the bag, the Panthers went public with their plans.

Of course, fans will likely love the new look as long as Cam Newton is sporting it and throwing touchdowns to Steve Smith. After all, winning is the best fashion accessory.
