'Family Guy': Lois Takes On The Religious Belief Of Avoiding Modern Medicine (VIDEO)

Lois Takes On Religion On 'Family Guy'

Once again, "Family Guy" (Sun., 9 p.m. EST on Fox) jumped right into a controversial issue. Stewie made a new friend, who the Griffin family quickly discovered was very ill. When they rushed little Scotty to the hospital -- unfortunately, Peter's Pete-arang came right back to the house, so that mode of transport was out -- after he passed out in their home, they learned that he had a serious medical condition. Without treatment, he'd almost surely die.

Scotty's parents, though, didn't want to seek medical treatment for him because of their religion. Instead, they were relying on the power of prayer and the will of God. Lois took matters into her own hands, kidnapping Scotty to take him to the hospital. When they were stopped by the authorities, she made an impassioned plea to Scotty's parents, and they changed their stance to allow him the treatment. Later, it was revealed that Scotty made a full recovery. It's pretty heavy material for a comedy.

But, as this is "Family Guy," there were plenty of unrelated laughs along the way, like the Pete-arang. Particularly memorable were the "Little House on the Prairie" intro and Peter's myriad heist personas (not even counting his Harry Potter garb) before he and Lois broke into Scotty's house to kidnap him. Peter even got a magical turn as Kate Middleton, after having just married Prince William.

Catch "Family Guy" on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
