You mean the great American Tea Party hype is over what a shame they needed to pretend they are relevant until the convention that way Fox News could have used them as a prop for the rest of the American people, question is what will happen to those lunatics in the Republican congress?

@den1953, I just read another article about some Democrat-tied group forming a Super PAC to try to get the 10 worst Tea Party people in Congress (I got the impression those people are specifically in the Tea Party Caucus in the House). Of course, I expect to hear blood-curdling cries of protest from conservatives about "Big Money" unfairly influencing politics -- but hey, as bad as the Supremes' Citizens United decision is, at least they didn't say anyone forming the Super PAC's that decision legitimized as to pass a litmus test with ANYbody. I hope the liberals come together and replicate that effort to get the "ten Most Wanted," so to speak, voted right out of office. It's time for them to start using all the tools available to them, as have the Koch(roach) Brothers, Karl Rove, and numerous others for conservatives.

I would love to see the GOP return to actually *being* "the Grand Old Party," the one for which I voted around 70%-80% of the time from my very first vote in 1972 right up through 2008. But the conduct of way too many in the GOP during the 2009-2011 session of Congress put paid to me doing that again so long as it the GOP continues on its voyage of the "GOPS Ship of Fools" -- "RNCS" standing for "Grand Old Party Ship" -- bound for the edge of the world.

America has finally realized that the Baggers don't have the charisma, intelligence nor the finances to cause the monumental political catastrophe that has been perpetrated on this nation, without having the financial resources of the ultra rich conservative right wing and religious zealots! It takes Millions to finance and direct such a group. Propaganda is an amazing tool which throughout history has had a devastating affect on its subjects! The end result of this endeavor has been Millions unemployed, homelessness, poverty, hunger and financial ruin for millions! While those responsible for this calamity have enriched themselves to a tune of hundreds of Billions every quarter! So do you really want a 1% per enter or a lobbyist in office, who's only goal is to maintain the status quo!

It's dawned on America that the so-called 'Tea Party', a wholly owned Koch trademark, DOESN'T EXIST. It's a right-wing euphemism for the "b!tch-and-moan" demographic which has allowed itself to be seduced and subsumed by old-school reactionary operators (read: Armey, Koch brothers, Rove) in return for a couple of free rides on those snappy buses with their tawdry American flag artwork.

Buh-bye, suckaaaas...

The Tea Party faithful were happy to get free doughnuts and coffee at those rallies until those Republican young guns in congress announced they are more then willing to eliminate Social Security and Medicare, when they went home that night they had a thought that they were included in that plan and thus the Tea Party was no more!

The Tea Party was created by the Koch Bros (Americans for Prosperity, Cato Institute, et al) and recruited by false propaganda distributed by "Uncle Rupert"/Roger Ailes. However, they now have to divert their filthy lucre to SuperPACs and so have cut off funding to the gullible old people with dementia who loved playing "dress up" in 18th century drag and pretending to be "intelligent" at the top of their lungs ...hey it beat just sitting around the bar @ 10AM complaining about how things were so much better in 1860

In a few years, the remnants of the Tea Party will be written about in Wikipedia, a minor footnote along with the John Birch Society. Bible Spice will be playing with her grandkids. Newt will be on the moon.
And we'll get up. Send the kids to school. Go to work. Pay our taxes. Eat. Sleep. And we'll get up.
Because Obama will be re-elected.

The GOP embraced extremists at their own peril. It worked well for having an animated and energetic base. But there was to much extremism brought into play. It seems the GOP is beginning to recognize their mistake. The question is wether or not they have realized it soon enough.

Is this really a surprise? The Gop did the same thing with the Christian right: took them under their wing, chewed them up, and spit them out. The Tea party need to do one thing in order for any voter to take them seriously as a force in politics: start their own third party. Otherwise, say goodbye to politics for good.

Unfortunately the gullible Christian right keeps getting fed crumbs and they keep on following the GOP believing that they will embrace the radical far right.

The Tea Party never truly had a firm grasp on the Republican party; they only momentarily landed a chokehold that was quickly broken.

I think that's optimistic. By embracing the fringe elements, they let themselves be defined by what they are against, not by any compelling vision of a better future. Demographics are against them. They will become increasingly marginalized if they continue to pander to the fringe.

Didn't we all know it was going to play out this way? All of us, except the trolls who just don't seem to understand why it's so amusing to watch them jump from one candidate to the next, as if we didn't just see them give their heart and soul to last week's Pineapple Princess.
