Robert Seguso, Tennis Player, Curses To God As Thunder Roars (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 01/30/2012 12:10 pm Updated: 01/31/2012 10:28 am

Thou shall not take the Lord's name in vain. But if thou do, thou better be ready to get an answer.

During a doubles tennis match, Olympic athlete Robert Seguso curses to the heavens and his outburst is quickly met with a thunderous roar.

Coincidence or divine intervention? Either way, the powerful response elicited laughter from spectators, who were undoubtedly delighted by the unlikely chain of events.

The video was first uploaded to YouTube in 2007, but nature's reply to Seguso's cry continues to entertain viewers year after year.

He is an Olympic athlete? Never heard of him, and I am a tennis fan.

God? Coincidence? Certainly, a philosophic conundrum. Call it what you will, without empirical evidence, it's probably not wise to jump to conclusions as to what happened, here. For all we know, the thunder could have been the sound of Thor missing a spare.

Yes, a real toughy. I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb here and say that it was a discharge of atmospheric electricity, having more to do with the weather than with Seguso saying "naughty" words.

Or maybe Thor killed some Christian for cursing him, Thor, with the thunderbolt, after all, the tennis player was not injured.

The meaning of taking the Lord's name in vain is not swearing. It is doing inappropriate things to others in the name of God. That would be religion et al.

Ah, another person who looks as if he may believe in God -- please forgive me if that's an overly-hasty assumption -- but at the same time claims to oppose religion.

Forgiven. OMG I don't believe in religion but I just forgave someone! What's with that?

Don't tell me you are a Christian; let me guess.

Seems Thor was happy that someone was cursing a false god...

I realize that the anecdote is humorous, but this is precisely how superstition works. By cherry-picking coincidence.

Once in 5 years and the GodSquad are still passing it around.

I got laid by an immensely hot young lady once while ditching church, so does that cancel this out?

I say GD a lot and not once has the thunder crackled immediately afterwards. Coincidence.
12:23 PM on 01/30/2012
Within the complete numerical data set of athletes cursing the heavens, the eventual thunderclap is not just coincidence, but a statistical probability - no divine intervention necessary. www.killingmother.blogspot.com.
