Pawn Shop Buys Purple Heart, Seeks Out Owner

When a seller offered an Ohio pawn shop a Purple Heart, the store bought it with one intention -- to return the medal to its rightful owner, NBC4 reports.

"Right away my question was, why would someone want to sell the Purple Heart that they received?" asked Gary Chasin, a buyer for Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop in Columbus, Ohio.

The engraving indicates that the medal, which is awarded to those who are wounded or killed in battle, belonged to Pvt. Leroy Bryant who was from Franklin and died in Korea. While Uncle Sam's hasn't yet been able to track down the family, it's not giving up.

"Where does it belong?" Chasin asked the news outlet. "It doesn't belong in this shop and I would like to return it."
