Bronx Marijuana Farm Raided By NYPD; Cops Confiscate 1,550 Pounds Of Pot (VIDEO)

Police raided a burgeoning Bronx marijuana farm Tuesday, arresting 3 men.

Each floor of the nondescript 5-story building at 610 Morris Park Avenue in the Van Nest neighborhood was filled wall to wall with plants at various stages of growth, some reaching up to 7 feet tall.

According to The New York Times, "The authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana that had been cut, dried and packaged in plastic. The total amount of marijuana recovered from the site was estimated at 1,550 pounds. The police figured that 50 to 60 pounds, with a value of approximately $250,000, were being produced each month."

Officials were busy confiscating the nearly 600 plants Tuesday night, which will be sent to a laboratory for testing before being destroyed, CBS News reports.

The raid was the culmination of a two month investigation by authorities after a neighbor reported some shady activity at the location.

As cops loaded the confiscated cannabis into a truck, neighbors gathered outside and watched.

"It's sad. I mean why didn't the cops pick up on this before?" one neighbor told CBS.

Andre Cardona, 20, told The Daily News a pungent pot smell has been wafting through the neighborhood for the past two years. "Cops come on the block and smell weed and pull us over and harass us and no one is smoking."

And Dwayne Dent, 49, who's lived in the neighborhood for 20 years, told The Times, "This is New York City. I should be surprised?" adding, "It's kind of genius. Until they got caught."

Brian Munoz, 24, Victor Reyes, 23, and Diego Reyes, 25, all of the Bronx, were arrested in the raid and are charged with one count of criminal possession of marijuana, one count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the first degree and criminal use of drug paraphernalia in the second degree.
