Erick Erickson: Occupy DC Protester Getting Tasered Is 'Hilarious,' 'Makes My Day' (AUDIO)

First Posted: 02/ 1/2012 9:25 am Updated: 02/ 1/2012 10:20 am

CNN contributor Erick Erickson responded enthusiastically after viewing video footage of an Occupy DC protester being tasered by police.

"Here is a story to make you laugh for the day...An Occupy DC protester was shot by stun gun yesterday afternoon," Erickson said on his radio show on Tuesday. "Watching a hippie protester get tased just makes my day."

Erickson encouraged his listeners to visit his website so they may view video footage of the Occupier getting tasered by police. "It's just made of awesome," Erickson said of the video. He also described the video as "hilarious."

A CNN spokesperson responded to Erickson's comments. Speaking to Politico, CNN's Edie Emery said, "CNN contributors' views are their own."

Speaking at a press conference Oct. 6 to urge congress to pass his jobs bill, President Barack Obama weighed in on the Occupy Wall Street movement, saying the protests express the frustrations of the American people.

"We had the biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression, huge collateral damage all throughout the country ... and yet you're still seeing some of the same folks who acted irresponsibly trying to fight efforts to crack down on the abusive practices that got us into this in the first place," the president told reporters. "The protesters are giving voice to a more broad-based frustration with how our finance sector works ... The American people understand that not everybody's been following the rules."

In an interview with ABC on Oct. 18, Obama said the Occupy Wall Street protests aren't that different than some Tea Party protests.

"Both on the left and the right, I think people feel separated from their government," said the president. "They feel that their institutions aren't looking out for them."

Pathetic! CNN is indeed supporting this guy's unbelievable ignorant comments. How sad... I do not support violent protests. And the majority of protesters are not nor were violent. Yet, they are treated as the extremist and domestic terrorists that Janet Napaliano discribes in both of the MIAC reports along with many other supporters of right groups and certain politicians. What did happen to the first amendment? Does it only apply to the biased media?

This is an example of of Media Matters and their friends at Huff Po have attempting to put a 'chilling effect' on free and open discource by those they want to discredit and marginalize.

I am not that surprised by the actions Erick Erickson and his hate towards the OWS movement. I'd also put Erin Burnett among those among CNN employees who are hateful towards that movement. It's clear to me for some time now that CNN is following the footsteps of Faux News.

People seem to forget -- or perhaps are simply unable to critically think.

FOX NEWS -- MSNBC ___ CNN and the rest of the 24 hour "News Stations" are NOT real journalists in the sense of the daily paper.

These are simply modern renditions of weekly or monthly magazines. Like those traditional mags that arrive snail mail or are purchased at the local news stand or supermarket they play to a particular audience.

There advertising revenue demands that they deliver their target segment.

It is silly to condemn for being what they are .. Dogmatic streams of slanted information

I think people being tased and arrested for "civil disobediance" (taking a sign off a tent) is COMPLETELY reasonable. How DARE he put his hands in the air and ask WHY he is being arrested.

I get really upset when people do not speak out about this blantant diregard for our human rights. But, I guess I am just some hippie B that deserves to be tased too.

How could you say that people sticking up for your rights and their rights that it is reasonable they get arrested these people are not attacking people they are protesting without violence, the ones that should be arrested are the ones who are using violence(Police,Government) oh yeah I forgot they are above the law so they can not be arrested. What happened to citizens arrest? Oh I forgot we have no rights anymore. I take it you like that? And if you don't I do not think you are out there protesting?

When someone is resisting arrested it is often safer for everyone that the person be tazed rather than to have to wrestle them into compliance. They were passing out these notices? Donesn't the government have the right to communicate with its citizens? For people who scream all the time about their first amendment rights being taken away why is it ok for this person to try to shut down communication just because he doesn't like the message. What if they just let him take all those flyers about the pending enforcment action and everyone in the camp was caught unaware. Is he doing his fellow "protersters" a favor by that?

I can't believe that anyone is surprised by his statements. He is very typical of the general conservative view . I , frankly, know of no conservative who would shed a tear over the actual execution of any OWS Movement protester. The only thing which surprises me is, the continuing desire of those who should know better , trying to equate OWS with the Tea Party. It would be hysterical if it wasn't so serious. I don't think I need say more.

I rarely comment about someones name, mainly because parents choose them. Could this seemingly lazy, shallow, stuttering redundancy in naming become a family trait ? Im seeing a pattern thus far.
