Kate Middleton & Prince William Adopt Cocker Spaniel Puppy (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/ 1/2012 4:16 pm Updated: 02/ 2/2012 10:52 am

Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton are welcoming a little one to their newly-formed family -- but it isn't a baby. The Telegraph reports the newlyweds have just adopted a cocker spaniel puppy, whose name has not been released.

According to the report, the puppy is barely a few months old and is the son of Kate's mother's dog, Ella.

US Weekly reports the couple was initially worried they weren't ready to take care of a pet, but after a short trial period, all fears were assuaged.

"William and Catherine fell in love with the pup instantly and it wasn't long before they decided to keep him," a Palace aide told the magazine. "He's now part of the royal fold!"

The addition comes at a good time for the Duchess, as William is set to be deployed to the Falkland Islands as a search and rescue helicopter co-pilot this month, the Mirror reports.

'Kate Middleton & Prince William Adopt Cocker Spaniel Puppy...'

Humm, first, HP, she prefers to be called "Katherine." And rather than post this under "Happy News" how about "Insignificant News" or "Well, At Least It's Not What She Wore News"....

I could care less about what, why, when these people adopted, OR any of the other comments (good/bad); how is THIS "good news"?

Don't breed or buy while homeless animals die!

This is totally nauseating. While the overpopulation situation in the UK is nowhere near the catastrophic numbers killed in the US, it is still sick to brag about deliberate breeding. Those two should have set an example and gone to the RSPCA and saved a life.

So her mother doesn't follow the spay and neuter recommendations? Pity. There are far too many unwanted dogs in the world as it is. Surely someone with the Middletons' money don't have to sell dogs to make more money.
Hope the puppy is neutered.
That would be an example.

Grow up! People are allowed to let pet's have babies.

In the animal shelter I work at, each little baby that shows up means that an older dog doesn't get to have a home. Sure, people can let their dogs breed, but it's completely irresponsible. Perhaps these people who "let their pets have babies" should work a day in the euthanasia room. Spaying and neutering is the best thing people can do for their pets.

What, not a British Bulldog?
12:35 PM on 02/02/2012
Um, that's not adoption. Adoption would be getting a dog from a shelter or rescue group, which is what the royals have always done and what these 2 should also have done.

No, but we would like them to be RESPONSIBLE. In-breeding damages dogs and puppy mills are not helpful to dogs or responsible for their care.

So, only dogs from a shelter are adopted? Who died and made you king of doggie adoption?

Kate's mother's dog, Ella.

The correct term is 'bitch'. The dog, Ella.

This is nice. Not a corgi but a night puppy with floppy ears (like dad).

Good that will gets a bit of fun before he is sent out to be held as hostage on the Falklands to keep the Argies out.
