Meghan McCain: Newt Gingrich Should 'Bow Out With Grace'

Meghan McCain: Democrats Are 'Laughing With Popcorn' At 2012 Infighting

Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), called again for Newt Gingrich to drop out of the presidential race Wednesday on MSNBC.

"He speaks daily about the good of the Republican Party and being a Reagan Republican and wanting us to beat President Obama. But all this infighting is giving more ammo to President Obama and the Democrats," she said. "If he takes this to the convention, the kind of uprising and chaos that's going to happen is just detrimental to the party."

"I think a lot of Democrats are just sitting back and laughing with popcorn at the cannibalizing that's going on right now. And I think it's unfair to Mitt Romney, and he [Newt Gingrich] should be honorable, and I think he should bow out with grace, which probably won't happen."

In her Daily Beast column Tuesday, McCain called for Gingrich to drop out, writing, "tonight is really a time for him to start thinking of the greater good of the party and maybe start petitioning for a position in Romney's cabinet."

In the past, McCain has called Gingrich's run a "vanity project" and his wife Callista a "mistress."

McCain, like her father, is supporting former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the presidency.
