I watched her this morning discussing the state of the republican party with Republican Edward Cox: Chairman, NY Rep.Cmte. She presented facts and stats while Cox tried to spread the same ole baseless rhetoric. He tried to slip in lies about past accomplishments of the GOTP nut Melissa proved him wrong with the actual facts. I'm sure that he will run back to fox and claim that he got his point across. And he did. His point is to pretend that republicans are a party of good sound policy but he couldn't name any. So I guess he'll have to accuse Melissa of being radical or something to overcome his baseless defense of the failed republican party. Melissa proved that talk is cheep without facts. Cox proved that republicans have to lie to compete with democrats. She even showed how Romney made a fool of himself during his rally in Michigan while talking about the auto bailout. He hasn't a prayer when it comes to facts. It's only a matter of time before Fox starts to attack Mrs Harris-Perry. What else can they do? Attack the facts maybe? I think not.

Congratulations to Melissa Harris-Perry. I'm enjoying MSNBC more and more!

MHP seems to be a very polite, sincere person. That doesn't usually work well with a panel/discussion type host. They usually get trampled if they are unable to control/guide the conversation.

Definitely not an MSNBC fan but I have always thought she was worth listening to, always.

Alex Wagner certainly has that problem of being diffident. Good panelist, weak host.

Like most of MSNBC, but not a big fan of her so far.

Put Mika on all weekend, she doesn't even need to speak --- I would watch that all day long.

Another panel show on MSNBC on the weekends? Cue the boredom.

Too bad for her.
12:33 AM on 02/03/2012
I stopped taking her seriously after hearing her try to describe the '82 CA Gov election in order to predict possible calamity in the '08 election. She either clearly didn't know what she was talking about or embellished.

Put Melissa in tweety's spot. They desperately to raise the IQ in that time slot.
09:47 AM on 02/03/2012
Tweety aka CMatt does not have an IQ deficit. He's not the one with the problem. Ahem

Does rthat mean that her hair style chanage after all?
09:49 AM on 02/03/2012
Considering she just got the braids a few months back and also considering no one besides Tamron Hall changes their hair on that network, we have to wonder the motivation behind your comment. Or maybe we don't, since it's obvious. Good day...

do you form your opinions as carefully as you check your spelling?

Good luck, MHP; could be onto something big when this works. Gonna be tuning in.

Who didn't know the word "it's" at the start of the last paragraph of the article should be "its". I wonder if the article's author went to a prestigious school of journalism.

Looking forward to this! I've always enjoyed when she's been a guest, or a guest host, for Rachel.
05:37 PM on 02/02/2012
Good for her. MSNBC needs to change their weekend line-up and get rid of those god awful prison shows, I mean what's up with that? We need to keep even with the faux news propaganda machine and watching idiots with tatoos all over their faces all weekend ain't cutting it.
09:50 AM on 02/03/2012
It's still prison in the afternoon. And based on this lineup it's prison in the mornings. Do they owe the makers of these prison shows a favor or something?

There's room on MSNBC for Sharpton and Perry.

they can switch time slots

There is room for anyone who up's the ratings, finally. Sharpton's ratings are above Turks. Rachel's ratings do not drop when Perry is sitting in. Rachel's ratings beat them all on MSNBC primetime.

I look forward to her daily show which is very likely in the future - she is good and she is very knowledgable and informed.
