Chado Ralph Rucci Cancels Show Set For February 12

Chado Ralph Rucci Cancels Runway Show

Well, at least we know he's not pregnant.

Chado Ralph Rucci has become the second designer to cancel his Fashion Week runway show, writes Women's Wear Daily. The designer is eschewing the runway format in favor of an intimate presentation.

In August 2010, Rucci scrapped an extravagant show for his Spring 2011 collection due to the medical leave of his company's president, Vivian Van Natta. He also saved plenty of money in the process by opting for low-key presentation with little to no production costs and a pre-owned space.

But Rucci told WWD that money was not the main reason his Fall 2012 show will move off the runway, nor was his scheduled time slot, which had him going head-to-head with Tommy Hilfiger (a show that never lacks for production value).

While the reasons aren't entirely clear, they can't be the same ones that caused Celine's Phoebe Philo to call off her runway show. Philo announced she is pregnant with her third child and will therefore avoid the added stress of a runway production by meeting editors and buyers in a showroom presentation.
