Jon Stewart Praises Soledad O'Brien For Questioning Mitt Romney's 'Very Poor' Comments (VIDEO)

WATCH: Jon Stewart's Shocked Praise For Soledad O'Brien

Jon Stewart was shocked into praising Soledad O'Brien's questioning of Mitt Romney's comment about the "very poor" on Wednesday.

Fresh from his victory in the Florida primary, Romney told O'Brien, "I'm not concerned about the very poor," and cited the existence of a social safety net. O'Brien asked the Republican frontrunner to explain what he meant, noting, "I think there are lots of very poor Americans who are struggling who would say, 'that sounds odd.'" Romney's statement has been roundly criticized as the latest in a line of gaffes that make the wealthy candidate sound out-of-touch.

For Stewart, the one bright spot of the interview was that a television host actually caught Romney's gaffe and pressed him to explain himself.

After watching the clip, Stewart sputtered in disbelief. He managed to get out, "TV news person just heard what candidate said and then stopped him and made him 'splain himself... like a flower blooming in the desert."

Then, he yelled in alarm, "Quick! Someone dig that up and get it away from CNN before one of their giant holographic monitors falls and crushes it!"
