Joanna Krupa & Katie Cleary Demand Kardashians Stop Selling Fur At DASH

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/02/2012 4:58 pm Updated: 02/02/2012 5:05 pm

Plenty of people bond over shared disdain for the Kardashians, but two models have linked arms to actually put part of the Kardashian empire out of business.

Models Joanna Krupa and Katie Cleary have taken to the Internet with a petition demanding the Kardashian family remove all fur from their DASH boutiques.

Reads the document, which protests the use of fur in the Calabasas, Calif., DASH store:

Those who are in the spotlight must set a good example for the rest of the world and send the message that it is NOT ok to torture innocent creatures for fashion! It is time for the Kardashians to pave the way for the rest of the fashion and entertainment business and remove all fur from their stores and clothing line. Cruelty cannot be tolerated!

The petition states that the women are trying to obtain 10,000 signatures; as of publishing time they'd already obtained 1,030.

The Kardashi-clan has a complicated history with animal rights activism. Even though Khloe posed naked for one of those famous "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" ads, PETA still bestowed Kim with the dubious honor of "Celebrity Grinch" last year for her fondness for pelts.

But this isn't the first time petition-wielders have united to try to stop the Kardashian publicity Frankenstein as it lumbers across the country. In November, thousands signed a document in an attempt to get E! to cancel "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" due to its depiction of "vanity, greed, promiscuity, vulgarity and over-the-top conspicuous consumption."

(It seems they've lost.)

I always think of our ancestors. How would they have kept warm? Have you meet a mink? Those things are nasty! They deserve to be made into a coat. mink, wolverines, ferrets, and fishers. They belong to same family and they are mean vicious animals. Mink are raised for the purpose of fur. If we were killing these animals to their extinction, then I would be fully up in arms against the fur business. We eat cows, pigs, deer, some bear, chicken and their young, and plants. Think about a cherry: you eat the cherry but don't plant the seed. The tree is alive, you ate its young, then didn't plant to make a new tree. Plants and animals are here for us to eat and use. It's just up to us to not kill them all.

Respectfully, you seem generally uninformed about this subject. If you want to learn something, and not simply reinforce your current beliefs/worldview, spend a few minutes perusing the information here:

Until these two models walk down a runway wearing fur - just like every other model who endorsed PETA and then wore fur when they were paid enough to do so.

question: are PETA members vegans?
01:58 PM on 02/03/2012
If you're referring to the masses who have joined PETA, (as opposed to the staff) then the answer is no. Although the organization promotes veganism for the obvious reasons, not all members partake in it. Personally, I am a member, yet I actually eat fish, turkey and chicken- along with things like sour cream, milk, etc whereas veganism doesnt allow these items.

i think that PETA should bring it down a few levels with their protestations. it's one thing to promote a cause, but its another to villify other who hold a different view.

i'm not a fan of the kardashians and wish their shows would go away, but i don't begrudge their right to sell merchandise in their store.

Take all of PETA'd clothing....they'll get cold enough eventually........that they'll wear leather or fur.

Don't care a bit for the Kardashians. However, if they want to sell fur, and customers come to buy fur, it is none of anyone's business

An industry that abuses animals is everyone's business. Whether or not someone chooses to stand up against animal cruelty is up to them, but actually supporting an industry that is based on brutality toward living creatures is without conscience and puts vanity at higher value than basic kindness.

Do you eat meat? Does your car have leather seats? Who tests your wife's cosmetics?

There are plenty of cases, worse cases, of animal cruelty in the world.

I have no more qualm about my fox hat, from an animal raised to be fur, than my rib eye, from an animal raised to be meat.

I watched part of that show once, and all they sell is narcissism. Never mind the ugly furs, that show celebrates shallow mindless women who only know how to shop, gossip and party. Did these girls miss the womens liberation movement, they are really an embarrassment. As for Bruce Jenner......enough with the plastic surgery it's not flattering.
