'The View' Clashes Over Komen's Planned Parenthood Funding Cut (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'The View' Clashes Over Controversial Planned Parenthood Cut

The co-hosts of "The View" got into a contentious and chaotic debate over Susan G. Komen For the Cure's controversial decision to halt its relationship with Planned Parenthood on Thursday's show.

The leading breast cancer charity cut off grants to Planned Parenthood, most of which funded breast exams. Planned Parenthood said that the charity had bowed to pressure from anti-abortion activists, while Komen said that Planned Parenthood is the focus of an investigation on whether public money was improperly spent on abortions.

On Thursday, Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar were adamant that the premise of the investigation, which was launched by a Republican congressman, was false. "They do not use federal money," Walters asserted.

Joy Behar blamed the funding cut on the anti-abortion views of Susan G. Komen's management, and pointed out that both the organization's vice-president and CEO are Republicans. The suggestion frustrated Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who insisted that the decision had "nothing to do with abortion." She demanded, "If it was political and if Susan G. Komen would never be associated with someone because they are the nation's largest provider of abortions, then why would they have ever have partnered with them over the years and years and years?"

Her insistence that the investigation should happen set Behar and Goldberg off.

"It's a false investigation!" Behar said. Goldberg said that the fact that no federal funds went to abortion "has been proven time and time and time again."

Sherri Shepherd also chimed in, lamenting that partisan politics are affecting people who rely on Planned Parenthood's services.

"This is really to me a class thing," she said. "People who use Planned Parenthood are poor people...what do you tell these girls when they don't have health care?"
