Christina Hendricks Encouraged Her Parents' Divorce

Christina Hendricks Told Her Parents To 'Just Get A Divorce'

In the March issue of Cosmopolitan UK, Christina Hendricks opens up about her parents' split. She told the magazine that their divorce -- which happened just after she graduated from high school -- "didn't affect" her.

"They hadn't been getting along for some time," she said. "I was like, 'Just get a divorce. Save yourselves.'"

Hendricks, who married "(500) Days of Summer" actor Geoffrey Arend in October 2009, tells the magazine that her parents' divorce may have changed the way she views marriage.

"I believe very much in marriage and in working hard for it," she told the magazine. "My husband's parents are still together and I really like that. But I wouldn't have wanted my parents to stay together if they weren't happy."

Hendricks and Arend were introduced by Hendricks' "Mad Men" co-star, Vincent Kartheiser, in 2007. The actress, who has three film projects in the works this year, told People magazine in September 2011 that she and Arend aren't planning to have kids just yet.
