DIA Explores Regional Tax For Museum Operations

DIA Wants To Impose Art Tax

Detroit -- The Detroit Institute of Arts wants area residents this year to authorize a tax to help maintain operations of the world-renowned institution.

Stung by the recession, leaders of the city-owned museum have met privately in the past few weeks with leaders of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties about a possible 0.2-mill tax that would raise about $23 million a year.
