Madonna Panned, Lana Slammed, 'Glee' Mocked And More: The Week In Ouch

Week In Ouch

First Posted: 02/ 4/2012 8:57 am Updated: 02/ 4/2012 8:57 am

Here at HuffPost Entertainment, we read our fair share of reviews and articles. Each week, there are performances that are well received, and we like to highlight those as often as we can. But if we're being honest, sometimes a well-written takedown is a much more entertaining read. Which is why we're launching "The Week In Ouch," a round up of the week's biggest slip ups and missteps.

This week, we've collected reviews from Vulture, The Washington Post, TVLine and and the AP. The unlucky stars and programs that made the list are: Madonna, Lana Del Rey, "Glee," "American Idol" and Katherine Heigl's "One for the Money."

Let us know which pieces you agree with in the comments, and which stars you think were wrongly eviscerated.

Vulture Wasn't Thrilled With Heigl

Vulture's Bilge Ebiri was really not a fan of Katherine Heigl's "One for the Money." And he's not the only one taking a shot at the actress -- even "Grey's Anatomy" is getting in on the game. Here's what Ebiri had to say:

Random lines of dialogue seem to hang in the air awkwardly, but then again sometimes everything seems cut to within an inch of its life, with characters speaking over each other in an inorganically annoying, ping-ponging way. The whole thing feels unnatural, as if someone was trying to create a rhythm for the movie in the editing room. Not surprisingly, they failed at that, too.

I'm just wondering do any of these so called critics have any talent beyond criticizing people that do? People that actually put themselves out there to express themselves and maybe entertain people, I don't think so. Those who can do and those who can't become critics. I think all of the people critiqued here had only the best intentions for their work and wanted to entertain their audiences, they may not have been perfect but at least they tried and took a shot at it. Just my opinion.

"There's absolutely no way to logically analyze what just beamed into our brains for an hour."
That's how I felt when I tried to watch Glee, too.

Well, get ready to whine again winers, because Katherine will be in another movie replacing Halle Berry. IF you don't like KH, you do have a choice you know.

I enjoyed the movie, and I thought Heigl did just fine. She did what she supposed to have done. I do think that they could have had more scenes of her after more people than one or two to make it fun, but other than that it was a enjoyable.

This role was made for Sandra Bullock and always was. It just devastates me that they have sunk the franchise with Heigl. These books are so much fun. Men, women and children around the world have been talking how great it would be when the finally brought Ms Plum to the screen. Then they cast Heigl. What the hell?

Glee has become ridiculous.

It's like a recurring nightmare of "Mamma Mia." It's been reduced to a very loose story strung together with the songs spanning the career of (insert artist here.)

Poor Janet Evanovich -- writes a series of funny, popular books and then everyone tanks the film because of its star. Such is the life of a writer. Read the books.

Agreed-it's as if the people who cast that movie had never read the book. It was just so off.

Sandra Bullock??? Where were you at casting time? Heigl sucks - and Stephanie Plum is such a great character. This is a real tragedy for Evanovich and the fans.

OK the lowdown: Madonna will survive a nuclear attack and still be doing her dance routines and "singing" amongst the rubble. Glee and Michael Jackson = FAIL. Steven Tyler is one scary dude with tons of money. Lana Del Ray will be forgotten in six months or less due to her uninspired singing and the press will get tired of her unless she does a high profile sexting. She probably will get 27 views on youtube on a good day if it wasn't for SNL.

I have to say: I watched Glee last night and loved it. It was highly entertaining, well, even more: it was spectacular. Darren Criss is so good. And some of the performances were good. I do think that they could have done without one or two MJ's songs.

Yes, maybe she should just retire to the nursing home now. I wonder what people like you will have to say about yourselves when you eventually reach that age. Here's a hint, it happens to all of us, eventually- if we're fortunate enough to make it.
