The emotional and financial benefits of weening oneself off relaxers cannot be denied. But whether a woman chooses to grow out her processed hair over a long period of time, or shave her relaxed hair off in a "big chop," is still a point of contention for some.

Oh please. I am more concerned about what is in a black woman's head ( meaning education) than what's on it. Is there nothing else to talk about in black America? Geez. Whether a black woman wears her hair natural or relaxed it really isn't anybody business but hers.

This works for some women. Others not so much. Didn't work for me many years ago. So now, wearing a neat bun is stress free. I went back to the relaxer because it was easier not dealing with negative public opinion. Black men are definitely not feeling this unless of course a women has delicate facial features or is just extraordinarily beautiful. Hmmm, maybe not even then. Men prefer a full head of hair on a woman, long or short. I very truly doubt that everything a women does to herself is just for her with regard to aesthetics.
