Ioana Spangenberg's Waist Is A Mere 20 Inches (VIDEO)

We've seen enough Photoshop Fails to be skeptical of a model's teeny, sculpted waist.

Which is why we couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the waistline of Ioana Spangenberg, whom the Sun has dubbed "the human hourglass."

Spangenberg, 30, boasts a 20-inch waist, or as the Sun put it, "only five inches bigger than a CD." Featuring the Romanian model and her unbelievable body in a weekend story, the British tabloid writes that Ioana actually struggled to cope with her unconventional figure as a teenager, when her waist measured a mere 15 inches.

With 32-inch hips contrasting her 20-inch middle, Ioana cuts an extreme figure. But apparently she's turned an idiosyncrasy into a career in modeling.

We can't say we've seen Ioana in any major campaigns or cover shoots, but her figure is now out there for all to see. She reminds us a bit of Ethel Granger, who had the smallest waist in (recorded) history at 13 inches. But Ethel didn't come by it naturally, whereas Ioana is quoted as saying that her size is all-natural -- no corsets (or eating disorders) required.

While we're happy Ioana has come to terms with her own figure, we hope young girls don't look to bodies like hers as an attainable goal.

Next time you find yourself being aroused by an emaciated women ask yourselves if the thrill of the chase is worth the grief it has borne on the subject?

So much for 20 inch waists and the waif girls who live inside these bodies. Surely there must be a way to bring a stop to all those pro ana websites that adulate girls like Ioana?

If you look up her image they show her bare stomach and she is not as small as some of the clothed pictures. She is very long waisted and may be naturally skinny but My guess is she wears a corset at times.

A 2/3rds hip to waist ration is for women ideal for health, reproductive and appearence purposes.

I've know women with 21 inch waists and 30-31 inch hips and they looked perfectly normal. Slender, yes, but not skinny or anorexic and nothing like the photos above.

Something in the picture does not add up; either her waist is less than 20 inches or hips more than 32 inches or she's wearing a foundation garment.

Saying derogatory things or making fun of an extremely slim person is not more acceptable than making fun of an overweight person - size discrimination works both ways. Even if if she corseted (which I don't believe she did if her waist was 15 inches as a teenager - mine was just under 20 inches when I was 19, 20... then again I'm only 5 feet tall)... is it really so different than someone who lifts weights changing their body shape? Would you like it if people were throwing their opinions about your waist, hips, thighs, or pecs at you all the time? She has a different body type. So what. Maybe the general public would be more comfortable if she had a typical American's body... but haters will always hate behind the safety & comfort of blog posting anonymity.
