Jason Wu For Target Not Sold Out... Yet (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/05/2012 10:26 am Updated: 02/05/2012 11:53 am

You're probably planning on watching that big football game tonight (or Anna Wintour's "60 Minutes" interview). But what will keep you occupied before all that fun starts? Jason Wu for Target shopping, of course.

The much anticipated collaboration officially hit stores and Target.com today. While we got a chance to pre-shop the collection two weeks ago, the navy and red striped tops and floral-print bags became available today for the masses.

And the result? Well, it's not all sold out yet. Certain stores garnered crowds, such as the Atlantic Avenue location in Brooklyn where shoppers lined up at 6:00 AM. (At this rate, Racked reports, what remains are mostly sizes L and XL.)

But unlike the epic catastrophe that was Missoni for Target, which crashed Target.com, some Jason Wu for Target pieces are still available on the (completely functioning) website. The Short-Sleeve Tee with Tie in cream ($22.99) is still available online, as is the floral Chiffon Dress in navy ($39.99).

There are also plenty of pieces that, while unavailable for online order, can be found by inputting one's zip code and searching for the item's availability in the closest store. (The black pleated skirt, for example, isn't available online but is still hanging at the Atlantic Avenue store in Brooklyn, according to Target.com.)

Then there are the items that were only available online to begin with, like the Sleeveless Pleated Shift Dress in navy, and have completely sold out on Target.com.

All in all, this has been no Missoni for Target madness nor Versace for H&M havoc. But Jason Wu for Target is definitely selling out by the minute. Head to Target.com to scoop up what remains.

Most of these look like they're for 6 yr olds or college girls, and nobody else.

Charge up those credit cards girls and stay in the fast lane when driving home while you text all your friends you got the new line. Here's the shocker for ya, I'm pretty sure the same cuts and colors at the Lands End store. Just pay attention. Target is good at keeping the cattle coming in for the pretty colors.

I got up early for the Missoni launch. Personally, I would only go for the accessories like scarves. I don't recommend splurging more than a few hundred dollars on fast fashion when you can get the real thing for much higher quality.

I don't think most of us can afford to buy the real thing. The price gap is too wide. His dresses go for thousands of dollars. I'm not hating on girls you have the means. If you got it spend it. I wish I could, but I just can't.

The reason why there are items still in store is because of the sizing. The dresses ran large and the top were either true to size or a little tight (considering bust size). XS girls had a lot of trouble. I didn't mind the larger dress size because I gained length (much longer than on the model in the ads) and I plan to tailor most of my items. No resellers in my store, but I'm in LA. Those recessionistas were not in the mood for that kind of foolishness. You might have caught a stiletto to the temple for even thinking about it.

I was one of the people who stayed up waiting for the items to go on sale and I have to say Target's idea of "rolling out" merchandise pieces at a time was good for their server but not so great for the customer. For example, two people from the same state, only one could see merchandise while the other waited hours before anything was visible. I think I was one of the lucky ones in that I didn't miss out on the items I really wanted, but had it not been for people sharing links on facebook pages, many people wouldn't have gotten anything at all. Once again, Target falls short of being prepared for the volume of customers.

I'm pretty certain this headline is wrong.
As far as I can tell Jason Wu is sold out
everywhere.

By pure luck my daughter found the last small blue sleevelss print dress..it fit great she looked adorable and then she announced she hated it and looked frumpy. No amount of begging and pleading by me changed her mind..she loved the missoni knits though.

loved MOST of it
especially the bags.

The collection likely isn't sold out because items were release unevenly (ie, 3 dresses were available to some site visitors, but not others, for several hours... so they sold out before everyone even had a fair shot of snagging something.. and allowed a couple of sellers to swipe everything and post them to ebay) Many people gave up after the release was so shoddy for the first several hours...

This isn't design for the masses. It's design for E-Bay hagglers.

This is a good way of knowing if one will make it in the fashion industry; First exposing your clothing line in department stores that are filled more with either middle class to lower paid persons. These groups are much more in number compared to the White Collar Classed folk and they care just as much as what they wear, but are also concerned the COST of it.
Asian designers always have a certain type of noticeable flair in their clothing; from prints to colors which their culture that is deeply rooted in their genes will show up in their line of work. If he is not doing well in selling his pieces the advice I would suggest him, is going out in the world and observe what all types of persons are wearing and build from there.

Jason Wu has already been a well-established designer since 2006, when Anna Wintour of Vogue recognized his talent. He became a wildly-successful household name when Michelle Obama wore one of his designs to the Inaugural Ball.

Jason Wu did sell out and the Target website stumbled, badly. What you described is just not quite accurate. Take a look at my blog post, look at the comments from Twitter and the comment from my reader who shopped the sale in New York City.

There are now 10,000 + Jason Wu for Target items for sale on eBay, making me wonder why Target and eBay don't just partner on this stuff.

Also, I didn't go to a press preview, but what I saw on the Target racks was not great fashion. I think the accessories were better than the clothes, but this was not a must have in my opinion.

I live in South Texas therefore lines or big demand for this line is minimal so fortunately I went in like at 9:00 AM and most of the stuff was available. I actually had to leave some stuff behind because I had over $400 in my cart :( . I regret it I should of bought it.

As cool as it is that designers do this, it often seems like the clothes are ill fitting and the fabric isn't the best quality. The designs are great but not necessarily to line up for or pay triple the price on ebay.

Glad I bought what I did at 2:00 am, because some of the items I wanted were sold out by 3:00 am. Now they're on eBay for triple the retail price.
