Tim Tebow Helps Alec Baldwin 'Tebowing' As Star Actor Hosts 'NFL Honors' (VIDEO)

Alec Baldwin got a little help when he tried Tebowing during 'NFL Honors;

INDIANAPOLIS -- Trying to do his best "Tebowing," Alec Baldwin got a bit of help on stage.

The host of "NFL Honors" on NBC was kneeling down when Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow stepped up and showed Baldwin how it's really done.

"Bless you, Tim," Baldwin responded.

That capped a nearly 10-minute monologue Saturday night on the eve of the Super Bowl as The Associated Press awards for the 2011 season were announced.

Baldwin started by walking into the glittery crowd, handing a football to Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers and asking the AP NFL Most Valuable Player to sign it.

The "30 Rock" star then tossed around the jokes, taking equal shots at the NFL, Madonna and the Kardashians, mostly to big laughs from the likes of Joe Namath, Rex Ryan and Cam Newton. All the while, Baldwin clutched his prized souvenir.

The evening's first presenter, Katy Perry, kept in the spirit.

"Hi Tim, my parents said hi," Perry told Tebow. Both of the 27-year-old singer's parents are pastors – Tebow was raised by missionary parents.

Early in his monologue, Baldwin pretended he saw Madonna – who's performing at halftime of the game between the New England Patriots and New York Giants in the audience. He pointed out it was instead Packers linebacker Clay Matthews.

"I was confused by the hair and biceps," he said to a roomful of laughs. Matthews, for the moment, didn't look too amused.

Baldwin jabbed a famous reality show family, too. Mentioning the power and popularity of the NFL, "It would take 800 years for the Kardashians to date and destroy all of them."

But Baldwin did not spare the NFL.

He told the audience New England coach Bill Belichick was tucking in his Patriots and telling them that Giants coach Tom Coughlin was not hiding in their closet.

He joked about the NFL lockout, saying fans would've had to resort to watching Canadian football with teams with silly names such as the Argonauts.

And he compared Philadelphia quarterback Vince Young's preseason comments of being on a dream team with a bad dream – the nightmare of being naked in school. The Eagles lost four of their first five games.

After the award for the AP Defensive Rookie of the year, Baldwin sat next to former NFL star Archie Manning and asked him: "Peyton or Eli?"

Rather than choose between his quarterback sons, Manning offered a quick retort.

"Let me ask the question: Alec or Billy?" Manning said.

Conveniently, the younger Baldwin brother was sitting right in front of Alec.

As for the postgame altercation between coaches Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers and Jim Schwartz of the Lions, "I haven't seen a handshake that awkward since Nixon met Elvis."

Before the show, players were eager to hear Baldwin's take on the NFL.

"He'll say anything but he's always funny," Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew said.

The evening's presenters included television host Jimmy Fallon, "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm and "Entourage" actress Emmanuelle Chriqui.

I know it was supposed to be funny, but giving the Bible-thumping football player another "moment" just makes me cringe....

It was humor - and Alec Baldwin's relationship with God is between them. Ever read that part in the bible where Jesus says, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." ?

Evidently he wasn't gods chosen one this year! Maybe if he quit practicing and prayed full time that would do it!

TT is just like a lot of these so-called Christians who are fake and phony. Real Christians are not interested in commercial exploitation of their faith. Tebow is going to hell if the authentic teachings of Christianity mean anything at all, as will most of these Right Wing fake, hateful, war, threatening, lying, fake pro-life, death dealing, so-called Christians.

But that's their salvation: they know there's no hell--so, what the hell?

No venom coming from you though... Wow, aren't you a big bowl of compassion and love. Tebow plays football and seems at this point to live what he preaches. I'm not a christian (or religious), but would love to have the guy as a neighbor. Have you taken a look at the young people this country is producing?

How do you know you want to have him as a neighbor? Based on what exactly? Images and sound bites you've seen on television? Are you a big bowl of compassioin and love yourself? In who's opinion? There's lots of young people in this country I'd like to be neighbors with, and I know quite a few myself, but then I actually KNOW them. This country is producing lots of impressive young people without a doubt. Just because some are not impressive to you, and your belief system doesn't mean you can throw them all in the same basket of negativity you suggest with that last sweeping, general question. Do you really want to go there?

Yeah Tebow is a strutting , attention grabbing, vain religious type because he called every single media organiation and forced them to promote the term Tebowing. Tim has a whole team of clandestine P.R. people on the making calls every day. Their phone banks are in the same underground bunkers where Iran is enriching uranium in Jamkaran

Yeah ESPN, ABC, NBC, CBS, HUFFPO, FOX, CNN, MSNBC, etc. have never sensationalized anything...haha

At first Glance Tebow is a grandstanding 'wear it on your sleeve' christian...the kind the bible warns you about. At second glance it's the same view. But then you hear about the humanitarian and charity stuff the dude does....that he doesn't have to do. If the rest of the 1 percent's did that with one percent of their income, the world would be much better.

I'd like to know what the other horse of the month athletes are doing with their money...and the celebrities that mock them, for that matter.

( I'm eating a salad with Paul Newman's dressing on it....which I think all goes to charity...the profits, I mean )

10:08 AM on 02/06/2012
But it can't be that you know all about his good deeds and not about those of others because he is grandstanding with those too?

Ofcourse it's charity... but when it comes with bible in hand and serves religion as the standard sidedish of the food offerd to people who are to poor to refuse. There is something sickening to it.

Many other professional athletes - especially the ones who make the really big bucks - have charities that do incredible amounts of good works. And, a lot of those good works are done quietly without fanfare. Tebow - whether it's self-promtion or just the media's focus on a "hot property" seems to get the headlines. That's no reason to minimize the numerous good works being done with money provided by successful athletes and other entertainment personalities. The same could be said about successful business people too.

You like "closet" Christians? How did you feel when Ellen made a spectacle of her sexuality? Do you feel that should be kept private? Hmmm. Just let people be who they want to be....out in the open. What's the big deal? When a famous person comes out of the closet they are considered brave, and people hope it will give others courage....when a famous person announces that he or she is a Christian everyone wants to shove them back into hiding. Wow. Such a double standard....I guess Huffpuff has as many hypocrites as a church.

After reading a lot of these comments, I'm just curious. Were was the outrage with Reggie White? This guy was a minister during his playing career, and he use to make teammates pay money if he caught them swearing. Tebow simply bows down and thanks his creator (like countless athletes do when scoring a touchdown, or making the sign of the cross after hitting a homerun and pointing to God). I have never, never seen another person so analyzed and bashed for his religious beliefs. If he threw down a prayer rug and faced east each time he scored, not a single negative word would be spoken of him, cause in America, "were tolerant of a persons religious beliefs." Despite a persons views on religion, It just simply amazes me what people say about this guy, when he should be the poster boy for professional athletes. Tebow is all class, and this article proves it once again. By the way, he's a horrible quaterback.............

The difference is that in the last few years (especially since 911) the right has wedged religion into politics in a way that angers many people. So, now many people are simply suspicious of people who display their religion in public.

I understand what you mean about him being a "horrible quarterback", but isn't it kinda hard to make that statement when he was one win from the Super Bowl?

No, you could say that about any team. At the end of the season, one win away,
could make or break any team actually, even before the playoffs.
