Dan Savage: Rick Santorum Google Bomb Is An 'Insanely Dirty Joke,' Just Like His Views On Gay Rights

Sex advice columnist and outspoken gay rights activist Dan Savage, on his way to the University of North Texas to serve as keynote speaker for a Equity & Diversity Conference this week, took a minute to continue his ongoing feud with GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum in an interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram over the weekend.

Savage's anti-Santorum drive is best remembered by his public campaign to change the definition of the word "Santorum" from the last name of the former Pennsylvania senator to a sexual neologism involving anal sex. In his interview, he admitted that the move was incredibly crass, and said that was the point.

"It's still out there and it is an insanely dirty joke," Savage told the Star-Telegram. "It is crude. It is vile, as are Santorum's comments about gay people."

Santorum has been hounded by gay rights advocates on the campaign trail across the country, facing tough questioning, heckling and even glitter-bombing attempts from opponents who disagree with his hardline anti-gay equality platform.

Over the weekend, Santorum again spoke out on gay rights, suggesting that same-sex relationships don't "benefit society."

Last year, Santorum attempted to contact Google about the alternate meaning of his last name, and in doing so, only managed to exacerbate the issue. The problem surged along with his campaign's momentum earlier this year, when his strength in Iowa prompted increased Google searches for "Santorum," in turn leading more users to the sexual definition.

I say if the gay's would have stayed in the closet and kept their bedroom love or sex to themselves where it belongs...in the bed, none of this would be happening. It's not funny.

I love and respect Dan Savage for taking on Santorum for his anti-gay stance. Got to love it when a sex columnist fittingly associates the name of this so called Christian fundamentalist career politician [who cannot seem to garner enough votes to be a career politician] with the bodily fluid mix that is not only smelly but can sometimes be a little disgusting when it gets on the clean bedsheets.

BTW, I wonder what's up EndTimesApostasy, I am not sure where his vitriol is coming from.

Dan Savage is unfit to be raising a young boy, and calling the child's biological mother a "spare-changing gutter punk". Dan Svage is insufferable in his posture of superiority over the child's mother's desperation. I hope a pro-bono attorney steps in and battles to get this child victim out of sick, sick, sick Dan Savage's household.

When I read the comments here I am disgusted about Americans speaking out against human rights and calling themselves free.

I have done three tours in Iraq to defend freedom only to realize I defended the freedom of parasites to profit from the massacre of a million innocenty.

But I took an oath to defend the american people against all enemies - foreign and domestic. And ANYONE who claims that there is ANY part of the american people who have no rights or less rights than others IS an enemy to the freedom of ALL. You are toodumb to realize that the simple belief in being better than your fellow man makes You less than all of them. That is your choice. But mine is to defend those rights. And I will do that. End Times, -- do you REALLY know what those crimes were? I'm willing to bet you don't. I suggest you take a course on the study of the Hebrew Scriptures from someone who knows what they are talking about -- and I mean a real Scripture Scholar. You just might learn something, and that the crime was NOT homosexuality. (as we understand that term today.)

You might also be surprised to learn that Jesus NEVER mentioned homosexuality -- not ONCE. He did have a lot to say about hypocrisy and judging others, however.
