Lindsay Wood, North Carolina Woman, Survives After Reading The Bible To Her Attacker

A Bible may have helped a woman survive in the face of a horrific crime.

Last Wednesday, Lindsay Wood, a 32-year-old woman from Shelby, North Carolina, had only just returned from Bible study when an intruder walked into her home, ABC affiliate WSOC reported. Then, without an apparent motive, the attacker slit her throat.

Wood's son was out dropping off the trash. When he saw what was happening, he hid behind the side of the house.

"She told (the attacker) please not to hurt her, that she loved the Lord and her son," neighbor Faye Cooke told WSOC.

When no amount of pleading worked, Wood started reading to the man from the Bible.

"She even invited him to her church," Shelby Police Capt. Rick Stafford told the Shelby Star.

After about an hour and a half, the man apologized and left.

Wood is now in hospital on a ventilator and a feeding tube, according to the Gaston Gazette.

Something about this isn't stirring the kool-aid. The kid just went to the curb to get the trash and crossed paths with the attacker, but made no attempt to warn her mother prior, or get help for her for over an hour and a half.

The attacker obviously missed the artery when he cut her throat. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to breathe, let alone read to someone and still have time for him to think for 90 minutes. He probably got the windpipe, if she's on a ventilator.

So either he didn't know where the artery was, or the attacker lacked the strength to cut down to it. As if maybe the attacker was a child.. or rather, her child.

Assuming this story is true, I'm willing to bet he didn't read 1 Timothy 2:12-14 to him.

I pray this brave woman, so full of faith, a faith that I say I do not have, unfortunately, makes it through her medical ordeal. Surely, though, if her body gives out, she will be with her Maker. I can't imagine even going through having a slit throat and still having the faith and fortitude to continue. I will also say that I was glad to see the Bible do good for someone and not used as a weapon, as is so often done, these days. Really, and I am not religious, though I find myself becoming more spiritual, trying to find truths in all the world's great religions, I wish that I could have an ounce of the faith that this woman has and pray that even during her recovery, her faith gets her through this most difficult period of her life.

Actually I pray before stepping out into public where people may be, and when surrounded by people with colds, and have yet to get a cold since I started doing that the last few years. If you don't have faith, then it is a good idea to invest in Nyquil since you will get to the point of catching a cold. I haven't had any kind of cold medicine in my house for over 10 years.

It seems that the urban legend of this story is starting to be exposed: "Officers say someone, later identified as 16-year-old Miguel Lopez, then cut Wood on the neck and ran from the house". This no longer fits with the story. So what really happened?

The Koran denies that Allah, the true God, has any divine sons. So mentioning Jesus, and he is not Lord in the Koran, is kinda lame.

Out jogging, I turned a corner facing a big black man who reached out & grabbed me around the neck, catching my L hand against my R cheek, lifting me up, my back up against his front, but I'd just made 7 laps of prayer around the school track & prayed "Lord, use me." "I rebuke you in Jesus' Name," I said, his grip on my throat silenced my words. The tips of my sneakers bumped on bricks as he dragged me into the trees, pulling me down to the ground. His grip loosened & he heard ..."in Jesus' Name". Finally, "I rebuke you in Jesus' Name," & I began to pray for him, quoting scripture & verses of hymns. We were entangled more than an hr as I prayed aloud. Then I opened my eyes to his nappy head bowed in my lap & he lifted a tear-stained face, his countenance completely changed. He was my son's age, lived 24 blks south & moved here from KS with his mom & 3 sisters. His white girlfriend had left for college & his drinking was doing his thinking. We sat talking till he walked me home. God had prepared me yrs before when I read "The Rebuke" in my parents' Guidepost. God is good. He is faithful. His Word is true. Memorize it. He used me to prevent a rape or worse.

You might try finding answers to your "questions" in the Word of God for yourself. It's more productive than sarcasm.

You can even learn more about your Adversary; you know, the one you serve, the one who accuses YOU before God, at the same time deceiving you into doing his work.

You write: "What kind of omnipotent dude is he?" You will surely 'know' this at some point... when is what will ultimately matter to you...

Wow, she read him the bible and he changed his mind, usually they change their minds when in prison and become faithfull bible readers, and find gawd..... Good for her, she is a luchy lady!
