Nevada Caucus Results: GOP Finishes Counting, Mitt Romney Wins Handily

Nevada Caucus Results

By CRISTINA SILVA   02/ 6/12 05:15 AM ET  AP

LAS VEGAS -- Nevada Republicans have finally finished counting the votes in their Saturday presidential caucuses.

As projected, Mitt Romney won handily, finishing with 50 percent. Newt Gingrich was second with 21 percent, edging out Ron Paul who had 19 percent of the vote. Rick Santorum finished last with 10 percent.

The results were released early Monday, nearly two days after voters began casting their ballots.

Party officials blame the delay on voting discrepancies and their old-fashioned voting method of using handwritten ballots.

GOP executive director David Gallagher says representatives from the campaigns approved the counting.

Only 32,963 voters participated in the caucuses, far short of the 44,000 Republicans who voted in the 2008 GOP caucuses. Romney also won four years ago, during his first run for the White House.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT HAPPEN TO THE OTHER 11,106 PEOPLE WHO SIGNED IN WHERE THEIR VOTES DO NOT APPEAR AS FINAL BALLOTS. THEY ARE MISSING FROM THE TOTALS. JUST AS A LARK RON PAUL IS SAID TO HAVE ONE 6,145 VOTES AND ROMNEY WON 16,447 AT 50% EVEN SO, JUST IF THOSE MISSING 11,106 VOTES WOULD HAVE BEEN DR. PAUL VOTES HE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN 17,251 VOTES OPPS! NOT THE GOOD OLE BOYS CAN NOT HAVE THAT CAN THEY GOP... FUNNY HOW THE MOST RELIGIOUS CAUCUS FILMED LIVE GAVE THE WIN TO DR. PAUL IN CLARK COUNTY WHEN THAT WAS HIS WEAKEST DEMOGRAPHY YET HE GOT OVER 57% OF THE VOTE IN CLARK COUNTY.. YOU KNOW THE ONE THAT WASNT COUNTED FOR TWO DAYS AND NOBODY HAS SEEN THE COUNTY BY COUNTY TALLY OF VOTES OR INDEPENDENTLY CHECK THE RESULTS... NOPE REMEMBER IOWA WHERE TWO PERCENTS WENT MISSING AND SOUTH CAROLINA WERE 900 DEAD PEOPLE VOTED. OF COURSE THE FBI SAYS IT ISNT A PROBLEM MOVE ALONG NOTHING TO SEE HEAR.

You say: " Mitt Romney won handily, finishing with 50 percent." but what that means is he got 50.1% and the "Not-Romneys" got 49.9%. Thats hardly handily! But nice attempt at spinning it.

The delay in counting? U mean like Iowa an they claim Romney won, an a week later Rick S. won but got NO boost for it cause by then the chance was gone! Ya, we do really trust their counts now.

They're expressing their disgust in the slate. I don't blame them. Well done, NV!

so the other 300,000 Republicans voted a resounding "none of the above"? It makes me feel good (as a Dem) but still I feel bad for the process.

Yeah, congratulations Mitt for getting 6000 less votes than you got in 2008!

Now winning handily is a good way to win, when....you have the Koch Brothers and 95% of Wall Street guarding your back. Did you really think it was NOT going to be Romney anyone? As for the Tea Party, you can keep trying to upset this whole process but methinks it's too darn late now.

No mention of the potential voter fraud? It's 2012 and our election process is hardly better than some 3rd world countries. Romney was declared the winner in Iowa and a few weeks later it ends up being Santorum. Now Romney was declared the winner in Nevada after only 4 percent of the state reporting, not including it's largest county where the majority of the state resides. Even if you disregard potential voter fraud, why would people vote if you already declare a winner on every major news network when only 4 percent of the precincts are in???

Did he end up winning when all 32,000 of your votes where counted. What, was there a blizzard that day?
11:36 AM on 02/06/2012
Someone explain how Romney was declared the winner after only 4 percent of the votes coming in? This was also excluding the largest county in the state with by far the largest population.

2012 and we still can't get a reliable way of counting votes? Sad.

Wow, there are half a million registered republicans in Nevada, 32,963 voted. That speaks volumes. That means 6.6% of voters in Nevada were interested enough to vote for a candidate. That is pretty sad the rest couldn't even hold their noses long enough to vote, but, who can blame them? Not one candidate is qualified for the position.

Romney wants to be President so bad, he would sell his soul to the highest bidder, say anything depending on who is in the room.

Gingrich is so riddled with vindictiveness that he can't even see straight. Its not necessarily the Presidency he wants, its more for getting even and getting attention and promoting his business.

Santorum, every speech, statement has to include either gays, abortion, sex or something of that nature. This guy has a real problem and should seek medical counselling.

Ron Paul wants to take America back to the 1800's. He wants to return to the gold standard. There is not enough gold in the world to use for daily transactions. He wants to get rid of most government agencies that protect the environment, just over the wall policies. Some good, some not.

Not great choices are there?

Did anyone else notice all of the "I Believe" signs that the Romney supporters were holding? Those signs are a shout out to the Morman "White Horse" prophesy.

I am still wondering what they believe. Mitts out for rMoney changes his position as often as he changes his audience so it is pretty hard to tell what they believe.

Please we shouldnt even talk about the other states when so much evidence of Election fraud has come out of Nevada. It cant be denied at this point http://www.WarnWire.com has a ton of info on Nevada, did you know the GOP election chair resigned the night of the caucus at midnight>? didnt see that story posted.
