Nicki Minaj 'Marilyn Monroe' (AUDIO)

Because every starlet needs to reference Marilyn Monroe at some point during their rise to/fall from fame, here's a new, probably incomplete track by Nicki Minaj, "Marilyn Monroe." There's nothing much to say about the Marilyn fatigue we're feeling right now except, "must be how Marilyn Monroe felt, felt, felt, feeeeelt."

Wow, did anyone actually take the time to READ the rest of the lyrics to this song. Nicki is not idolizing MM here. If you read the lyrics she is clearly singing about how MM made mistakes, how she was being capitalized due only to her beauty, less upon her talent and how in the end this destroyed MM's final years of existence. I listened to this song and realized this is what Nicki is trying NOT to be. I'm not saying that she isn't going that route BUT this song is not suggesting that MM was a a glamorous star. The lyric

"It's like all the good things
They fall apart like, like like Marilyn Monroe
Truth is we'll mess up til we get it right
I don't wanna end up losin my soul"

This doesn't sound like a song dedicated to MM, this is a realization of how fame can destroy you, just like it destroyed so many other artists such as MM. People please READ and listen instead of running your mouth. My goodness.

I really don't understand Hollywood's obsession with Marilyn Monroe. It's become something of a rite of passage for new entertainers to somehow channel the spirit this woman. From my understanding she was a person known to get around, what's to be admired?

Marilyn Monroe is indeed an icon, and through all she went through most folks, even her critics, agreed she had a star wattage that came right through the camera and created another universe of glamor and sex appeal But that being said I wish Nicki Minaj had the intelligence and commitment to reference a black woman of iconic proportions like Madam Josephine Baker instead of Monroe. It would have at least given Ms Minaj a little credibility as an African American artist who has both respect of herself and her culture enough to have referenced an African American performer who like her was an artist who was trying to create her art as a performer beyond the parameters of what other people thought or expected. I think this would have served Minaj well and surprised some of her critics in a positive way.

It's one thing for black women to like MM, but it seems like more and more black women are idolizing her. I wish more black women would start celebrating our own beauty instead of trying to imitate the beauty others. I mean seriously Jane Kennedy, Dorothy Dandridge, Ertha Kitt etc...MM couldn't hold a candle to them

All MM was, was a piece of tail that's all lol lol she wasn't that cute either.

Nope. She was just average, if that. Make up and a nice wardrobe did and still does wonders. It fathoms me how they think Cameron Diaz, Gweneth Palthrow, Anne Hathaway and the likes are such great beauties.

You can add Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston, Uma Thrmon, and Nicole Kidman to that list. They are not pretty. I don't care what Hollywood says
