Rooney Mara Wears A Color! Praise The Fashion Gods! (PHOTOS)

OMG ROONEY MARA WORE A COLOR.

Sorry about the caps lock. We're just really excited. See, while the rest of the fashion world lavishes praise on the "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" star, we've been less than impressed.

Why all the black and white, Rooney? Why the severe hair? Why the constant sad face, like your clothes are upsetting you?

But we can all praise the fashion gods, because Rooney snuck in a red carpet appearance at the Santa Barbara Film Festival over the weekend for which she actually wore a color.

It was green. It was in the form of a dress. And we loved it.

Alas, the gloriously colorful moment was short-lived. Today at an Oscars luncheon, Mara was back to black, with dark pants and shirt topped with a crisp white blazer. She looked fresh, sophisticated, fashion-forward... and totally unexciting.

I think her black and white clothes look smashing. And I hate it when someone is accused of having a "sad" or a "mad" face. I have been a victim of that but that's what my face in repose looks like, I can't help it.

What is wrong with wearing black? I particularly liked her outfits in Dragon Tattoo, esp. the t-shirt that had "f*** you, you f****** f*** on it. Anyway, she's very pretty regardless of what she wears, and fashion critics really don't have great taste in clothing in my opinion.

This color green is my favorite color- that dress is fabulous. I just wish she wasn't so minimalist on the accessories for this dress and jazzed it up a bit. But that's her thing.

Everyone who has written about Rooney's style so far on this side (and it being bad) has been so far off base, it's ridiculous. It's so petty and it's criticism that needs to be reserved for those who actually CAN'T dress. Rooney is sharp, sophisticated, and gorgeous all the time. Any opinion to the contrary just advertises your jealousy.

Hey Ellie, why do you hate on Rooney so much? And, who is the "we" you speak of? Do you just not want to go out on a limb by yourself? So she likes black and white. She's way more chic than most of the actresses her age. How about posting some pics of your own style and we'll be the judge. Your unexciting is another person's fierce.
