Chicago Man Gets Stuck In Elevator Twice In One Day (VIDEO)

Firefighters rescued a man from a trapped elevator early Monday morning -- only to see him get stuck in a second elevator just moments later, CBS Chicago reports.

Around 9:15 p.m. Sunday night, the man notified authorities that he was stuck inside the 21st floor elevator of the Mid-Continental Plaza in Downtown Chicago, according to WLS. After roughly three hours, firefighters managed to free the man from his suspended prison, but when he took another elevator down, that ride became stuck as well.

At least the had company the second time around -- when rescue workers worked to free both the man and another firefighter who got stuck with him.

Everyone eventually safely left the building, reports said.

I have been stuck in an elevator,did not like it much! Now if I need to take one I always have a bottle of water,gum and a chocolate bar. They make me very nervous now. This guy went through my worst nightmare Not for bad luck he would have no luck at all.

get used to it ! most major elevator companies are not doing any service , have laid off %50 of repair men , all this in an attempt to break union this summer . companies dont care about your safety ! just almighty dollar !

While working in the city (Chicago) I got on an elevator that suddenly dropped with several large bangs. It stopped and the doors opened two floors lower -- but the elevator was about a foot and a half LOWER than the floor level it stopped at.

Needless to say, the three of us on the elevator scrambled out. That particular elevator was out of service for almost a week...

I'm not affraid of elevators but I avoid them if possible. Hotels, businesses, garages, condo's etc. I always use the stairs. Great exercise too. I've walked up as many as 20 + stories. Down is a little easier. I realize using the stairs isn't for everbody like the elderly, handicapped or obese people. The latter need to use the stairs more than anybody.
