Obama Campaign Returning $200,000 Tied To Fugitive Mexican Casino Owner Juan Jose Rojas Cardona

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's campaign is returning about $200,000 in contributions collected by family members of a Mexican casino owner who fled the U.S. after facing drug and fraud charges.

The Obama campaign said Monday it had decided to return the donations arranged by Chicago brothers Carlos Cardona and Alberto Rojas Cardona, who had begun raising money for the campaign and the Democratic National Committee last year.

The New York Times reported late Monday that the fundraisers are the brothers of casino owner Juan Jose Rojas Cardona, who skipped bail in Iowa in 1994 and has since been linked to violence and corruption in Mexico.

The campaign said it refunded the money raised by family members after the newspaper asked about the brothers' fundraising role. Obama campaign officials said they were identifying donations bundled by other people connected to Cardona, expected to be about $100,000, and would return those funds as well.

"On the basis of the questions that have been raised, we will return the contributions from these individuals and from any other donors they brought to the campaign," said Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt.

The newspaper reported that Gordon Fischer, a lawyer and the former chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, had sought a pardon for Juan Jose Rojas Cardona from Iowa Gov. Chet Culver, a Democrat, but none was granted.

Wonder how much other blood money he has pocketed from all the companies he bailed out. He is so not presidential material. I pray many of his duped followers wise up before the next election. Read the article. Obama did not accept money from the corrupt casino owner, Pepe Cardona. He accepted donations from his brothers (who are American citizens). You're jumping to conclusions. The article does not say he accepted money from Pepe. Now the money may be tied to Pepe Cardona, but my point is that it's his brothers who made the donations. You're making assumptions based on what you want to believe, not what the article actually says.

Just in case you have been fooled into thinking Obama has helped the poor in America and has your best interest at heart. Here is a little information he might not have told you. I work 35 hrs. a week at a business I own, I can choose which hours I work. I also volunteer 20, sometimes 30 hrs. week helping the poor and elderly processing their applications for programs like Low Income Home Energy Assistance Programs and programs designed to help the less fortunate. Driving them to Doctors appointments ect. Under this president these programs have been stripped to bare minimum. Funds for these programs are less than half they were under Bush. A few weeks ago a family contacted me because they were out of heating fuel and the state had not received any federal monies for emergency aid to families that find themselves facing cold weather without fuel oil. I ordered fuel for this family and paid out of my own pocket because they have kids in the home. I believe this family more deserving of this fuel oil than obama deserved spending four million dollars of taxpayers money on a lavish Hawaiian vacation, The Obama administration is more able to help out of work families than I am. Mr.Obama, step to the plate and do the things you CLAIM your doing. No more lies, stop deceiving the people into thinking you are helping the needy. The only people you have helped is Wall Street Bankers.

Thanks for sharing yr information. We try and help out in our area, too - driving to doctors' appointments, run errands to grocery stores, pharmacies, post office, etc. - and also short drives to parks, the lakefront and other points of interest.
We try to match up skills of retired people who can volunteer to work - to assist young businesses with experience and knowledge - sort of like a mentoring program.

What I do know, and I have seen it for myself, anyone I have brought to any government agency for assistance - would have no problems - with their situation, if they pretended to not speak English.

Obama, refunded the money raised by family members AFTER the newspaper asked about the brothers' fundraising role. The Iowa DEMOCRATIC PARTY had SOUGHT A PARDON for Juan Jose Rojas Cardona' LOL Yeah well that figures. And Obama returned the money AFTER the news got wind of this connection between him and this group of hoodlums.. All fits in with obamas Chicago politics.

What happened to the "rider" that he gave to "The Stupak 8" - when the Eight members of Congress - held off voting in favor of Obamacare - until they were assured in writing that no US taxpayer money would be used to support abortions.

Looks like the "rider" was as phony as Obama.
