Roseanne Barr For President: Star On California Ballot For Green Party

Roseanne Barr

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Roseanne Barr's name is on California's primary ballot as a Green Party candidate for president.

Secretary of State Debra Bowen announced Monday that Barr is among 24 candidates she intends to place on the June 5 ballot. An officially certified list will be released on March 29.

A news release says Barr is among three candidates for the Green Party presidential nomination.

The actress-comedian released a statement last week saying she's a longtime supporter of the Green Party and she looks forward to working with people who share her values. She says the two major parties aren't serving the American people.

The Green Party will select a presidential nominee at a convention in Baltimore in July.

After reviewing the obvious fear in the possibility of Barr actually being serious about running for president of the United States of America i,personally, am very interested about how well versed she is on foreign policies and can't wait to see her take on all the candidates in the debates to come. And even more curious in her running mate possibly being Micheal Moore. America is in for a ride and a surprise. If , in fact , she is knowledgeable, 2012 will be something for the history book for sure! Let the facts fall where they may !

Jill Stein will be the nominee. The Green Party's leadership is filled with dinosaurs and acid casualties. They have no idea how to run a party.

Just another reason why we shouldn't take the Green Party seriously.

Does she still grab her crotch when she sings the National Anthem like she did in San Diego?

Roseanne Barr boasts about being a communist. Her parents were.

I'm glad the Huffington Post is finally giving some attention to the Green Party instead of being totally a water-carrier for the Democrats. For years I have searched for news of Green candidates on here and have come up with mostly the sound of crickets chirping. We've had some fine candidates but you'd never know it. Search for "Green Party" and you get dip recipes before learning anything of David Cobb and Cynthia McKinney . . . Nader got a few mentions, not too much on the debacle where he was being asked to pay for Dems atty fees after they fraudulently chased him off the ballot in PA - his running mate Winona LaDuke gets a footnote. But it finally takes Roseanne Barr, a memorable figure in any genre, to get wow, a story link on the front page no less! You may hate celebrities, but you live in a country that gives them more attention and adulation than statesmen and scientists!

I know people who were on the staff of Ms. Barr's sitcom. She does not treat people well and that's an understatement.

I am so thrilled that an honest person as Roseanne Barr has entered politics. Bravo. I will vote for her rather than almost any one excepting Mr. Kucinich. I will most definitely be honored to use my vote to get ms Barr elected. The country needs her. Not a lady to be bought and who is clear when she speaks.

Finally, someone I can vote for.

She's such a joke. The only reason she's so PO at Obama is because of the whole Etta James thing. She can sure hold a grudge.

I don't read the Huffington Post very often, so it's surprising to me how unintelligent most of the comments are. Why don't you moderate them the way the New York Times does?

Anyway, just to let any Roseanne Barr supporters in Arizona who want to vote for her in our Green presidential preference primary, first in the nation this year, on February 28, three weeks from today:

Roseanne Barr isn't on the Arizona Green Party primary ballot. But I am, as her "stand-in." I've asked the Arizona Green Party that any votes I get be counted for her and be apportioned to her when they allocate our state's delegates to the Green Party presidential nominating convention in Baltimore this July.

I have some of my own ideas, such as deporting all Republicans, which I hope President Barr will adopt.

How objective! Really means a lot coming from someone who wants Roseanne Barr in office.

i used to believe in the green party but there's a lot of problem. i my vote for one if the green party can really hold a crowd. right now, it will be suicidal to vote for the greens while the republican is intact. i'll stay with the democrats in the meantime and until such time the greens can muster enough vote. why can't the green start with the mass base. run for congressman or mayor. this is more doable1 presidential election?
