Astrology Dining: How To Pick A Restaurant For Every Sign

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 02/08/2012 12:53 pm   Updated: 02/08/2012 3:59 pm

If someone tells you they're going to pick a restaurant using the stars, you might roll your eyes, but you probably have a good idea of what they mean. They're choosing a restaurant that has been rated highly by a Michelin Guide, the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times or some other publication that uses the classic rating system. But that's not all it could mean. In certain circles of believers, actual stars, the ones in the sky, could have a part to play in choosing the perfect restaurant -- via astrology.

At first it sounds far-fetched: how could the cosmos determine whether you prefer Ruth's Chris Steakhouse or Joe's Stone Crab?

But natal chart astrology is all about predicting personalities. It aims to interpret how stars and planets are influencing a person as they are born. And restaurants are all about appealing to people. They use not just food, but things like interior decorating, location and service style to create a certain effect, which may or may not resonate with any given person.

Of course, many people don't believe that astrology is "real." And many diehard astrologers would be quick to point out that a person's astrological profile is a lot richer than just a sun sign, which is determined solely by your date of birth. Things like culture, dietary restrictions, upbringing, and just plain subjectivity, can also derail astrological predictions of food preferences.

For all these reasons, noted astrologer Michael Lutin, when asked whether astrology could predict restaurant preferences, was quick to say, "Even Scorpios can be vegetarian, and not all Tauruses OD on cream."

That's all to say that if you pick a restaurant just because it meshes with your astrological dining preferences, you might get burned. Sometimes a bad restaurant is just a bad restaurant -- in which case the fault, dear reader, is not in our stars, but on our plates.

Still, we at HuffPost Food were eager to find out what the stars might be able to tell us about what restaurants we -- and our loved ones -- like. The fact that Valentine's Day is right around the corner didn't hurt; after all, one of the few facts you can't fudge on your OKCupid profile is your astrological sign.

So we called up the divine Susan Miller, the famous astrologer behind AstrologyZone and the horoscopes in Elle magazine (among many other projects), and asked her to guide us through the muddy waters of astrological restaurant preferences. Click through below to find out what we learned. And be sure to vote on the accuracy of each pick, and voice your agreement (or critiques) in the comments.

This sign likes restaurants that... Are adventurous and energetic -- even a little loud. If possible, many Arians love to have a little meat as part of their meal. "Aries rules iron, which makes them love bloody meat," Miller explains. "And it also rules fire -- so Aries loves barbecue." When an Aries is hosting a party, which they like to do often, they love being the center of attention, possibly, Miller suggests, manning the grill at an al fresco summertime party.

The article is not saying all Virgos are veg or love sushi if your intelligent enough you can read between the lines and see that they meant Virgos like to eat healthy and are well aware of their health and body, .....idiots and they said "Half of Virgos are vegetarians," Miller jokes, "And the other half only eat sushi." DO YOU KNOW WHAT JOKES MEANS Virgos are also known to be detail oriented but you guys didn't even read the sentence right. Anyway I'm a Virgo and I found it pretty spot on I'm always trying to eat healthy and I do scold my b/f for eating fatty foods lol the Aries,Taurus, cancer were spot on too.

Cattle cookies!! I'm a double Virgo (sun and moon at time of birth) and shun veges, which give me indigestion. I love meat, and consider a meal without meat is no meal

I'm a Scorpio, and I gotta admit that this article is right on; I love dressing up, and I love seclusion. I've never put a lot of thought into astrology, but the characteristics of a Scorpio is eerily similar to my personality.

Does anyone notice the blatant incorrectness of the headline "Restaurants Scorpio's Should Eat At"? Really? Learned in 2nd grade cannot end a sentence with a preposition. Sound like idiots; which fear we have become. Yet we wonder how our country fals far behind others.

Restaurant Scorpio's Should Eat At? Such blatant incorrect English is inexcusable! Those who write these articles (silly as they are), I assume are 'writers'; meaning they have education in the field? Yikes! Yet we wonder why this country falls so far behind.

Oh my gosh!..I am a Virgo and I am NOT a vegatarian, nor do I love sushi (the thought makes me kind of ill). I love meat & potatoes. And seafood! and Italian.. oh oh.. Mexican spicy, too. Well so much for that article!!.. LOL

Don't quit your day job. This Scorpio disagrees 100%. Are these articles co-ed or always aimed towards the females. Men do read also!!!

I'm confused. I'm a Virgo. I feel like this says the complete opposite of me (though one thing is correct, I AM picky), also not like many other Virgos I know, including one of my closest friends. I don't do diets, I am not a vegetarian, I actually dislike 98% of vegetables, and I don't like sushi... well, I don't like seafood... And I don't see myself scolding whoever I'm eating with cause I will most likely be scarfing just as much food down (usually).
