My friends always make fun of me because I never wear pants. It has become so extreme that I have actually earned the ironic nickname, "Pants."
So, of course when our fashion editor Christina (who wore her Jason Wu for Target skirt five days in a row last week) approached me to wear one item of clothing five days in a row, I knew it had to be a dress. When she picked this chambray mini out of my closet, however, I was surprised. One of my summer staples, I haven't worn this tent-like number in months. How could I possibly wear it for five, albeit warm, winter days. The answer? Layers, layers, layers.
Take a look at how we styled this dress over the course of a week. How would you wear this dress?
Meanwhile, want to wear your chambray shirt at night? Here's how style it for a chic evening look.
"For the first look, Christina added a gray cashmere sweater from Uniqlo. I love a collar peeking out, so this was perfect. Paired with my favorite platform Topshop boots and a white Alexander Wang bag, I loved this outfit."
"Next, we got radical. Since the dress is short, I was able to easily stuff it into my black J Brand skinny jeans. We added a black and white tweed blazer from Rag & Bone, a red pony hair belt and silver Nicholas Kirkwood Mary Janes. A coral necklace that I made and two gold bracelets completed the outfit."
"To make this summery dress office (and season) appropriate, we layered a simple, blue J. Crew button down underneath. Subdued black tights and Brian Atwood pumps let the brightly-colored belt and bold necklace take central focus in this outfit."
"The most surprising move was layering a dress underneath my dress. My roommate's silk Opening Ceremony number added a little more coverage to the top of this otherwise low-cut dress, as well as a little length. We piled on a gold cuff, necklaces and a pop of color with the bright yellow vintage bag."
"Although this look might be a bit conservative for me, I love how this dress is easily transformed into a shirt. A high-waisted Alice & Olivia skirt, red belt and camel Zara coat add up to a chic, professional look."
