Kevin Spacey As Richard III (HIGHLIGHTS)

Kevin Spacey's Villainy Reigns In Richard III

Though Kevin Spacey has played a myriad of roles, it is his ominous characters that often steal the show. Through March 4, this dubious side of Spacey is on display in "Richard III," the Brooklyn Academy of Music's coproduction of the William Shakespeare play.

BAM, The Old Vic theater in London (Spacey is the artistic director), and Neal Street film and theater productions are co-producing the play as a part of The Bridge Project. The project is a three-years series organized by the collaborators, dedicated to producing classical theater on a large scale for international audiences.

"Richard III" is their third and final production. In true form, Spacey is taking on the role of Richard III, the bitter, outcast hunchback who is power hungry for the throne. Tony Award nominee Haydn Gwynne plays the role of Queen Elizabeth alongside Tony nominee Maureen Anderman as the Duchess of York, Olivier Award winner Chuk Iwuji as Buckingham, and a handful of others.

If the clip below that Playbill released pays any proper tribute to the show, "Richard III" is an epic production worthy of such theatrical genius, and villainy, as Spacey.
