Second Saturday Art Walk Guide: February

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/ 8/2012 9:52 am Updated: 02/ 8/2012 9:52 am

Get ready for the most exciting Second Saturday Art Walk since last year.

January's was a sleeper as many of the galleries simply extended the shows they opened for Art Basel week.

This Saturday, however, most all of the white cubes in Wynwood and the Design District are revealing new work.

There's an Occupy Opa Locka exhibit at Dorsch, a high-brow "gangsta" show at Snitzer, blinged-out cookies at Primary Projects, and an exceptional family of artists showing at Diet.

The art walk starts roughly at 6 p.m. and fills Wynwood blocks (between 22 and 29 streets along NW Second Avenue) and in the Design District (roughly 35 to 41 streets between NE Second and N. Miami avenues). Cross your fingers it doesn't pour down rain.

Through videos and stills of one-man protests and a rotating camel sculpture culled from an old bakery sign, Miami artist Magnus Sigurdarson examines how the Arab Spring has made Middle Easterners less exotic at the Dorsch Gallery.
