Devante Saxton Put Marijuana Through Jail Security Check While Visiting: Police

Police: Teen Put Bags Of Pot In Jail Security Bin

A suburban Chicago teen entered River Valley Juvenile Detention Center last week as a visitor -- but his trip through the security checkpoint almost landed him in jail.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Devante Saxton, 19, was going through security at the Joliet, Ill. facility and emptied his pockets to go through the metal detector. His pockets happened to include five bags of marijuana, police told the paper.

Security guards called the Will County Sheriff's Department after seeing the weed, the Herald News reports. Saxton was arrested and charged with cannabis possession.

He was later released on $100 bond.
