Jatiek Reed, Bronx Teen Beaten By NYPD Cops, Suffers From Nightmares, Headaches (VIDEO)

NEW YORK -- A man shown on video being kicked and punched by four New York City police officers says he's suffered from constant headaches and nightmares since then.

Nineteen-year-old Jatiek Reed spoke Thursday at a news conference where his attorney announced he was requesting a special prosecutor to investigate.

Reed was arrested Jan. 26. An amateur video posted online shows officers kicking and punching him as he lay unarmed on the ground.

The officers involved have been placed on desk duty while the NYPD investigates. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has called the video troubling.

Reed's attorney says the Bronx district attorney's office isn't capable of investigating because of its close relationship with police. He says he's asked Gov. Andrew Cuomo to appoint the attorney general to look into the case.

It's amazing... it really is. Especially how organizations like "Perfect Peace Ministries" are getting involved. Jatiek Reed is another kid from the hood who contributes nothing to society. Anyone who knows him will tell you his dreams are of making money by selling crack. The kid sells drugs for a living. He has nightmares and headaches? can you say LAWSUIT? In the bronx, people walk around waiting for lawsuit opportunities, and Jatiek found his. He isn't having any nightmares, headaches, or insomnia. Those cops should have done a better job at making sure he couldn't walk anymore because as it is, they will definitely face discipline for this. Worst part is, they'll be handled while Jatiek can still walk on his two feet which means hill be up and down the ave trying to sell more crack. So sad.

"Jatiek Reed, 19, currently has three prior open criminal cases. Six days before the beating incident, he allegedly kicked a woman before stealing her cellphone.
Last June, he and two accomplices were charged with robbery and assault after they jumped a man for his phone and sliced open his face with an unknown sharp object, court records show. The gruesome wound required 14 stitches to close"

The evil po-leece bothering such an upstanding citizen, terrible.

So you approve of the police abusing those who are merely accused of a crime(s)? I guess it only will be a problem when you are accused of a crime, but then it would be justified, correct?

If anything, this should show you how our prison system has failed. This shows how are policing has failed. And over-correcting it with more police isn't going to help anything.

Excuse me, "our" policing - it's been a late night.

I say do away with law enforcement !!! We can handle things are way and better than cops and the only reason this kid has an arrest record. Is the fact the cops arrested him before the teen is only selling to support his family. The less we call the cops the less we need them and maybe they will go away. Vote to disbanned the COPS !!!
