The man accused of killing 22-year veteran of the NYPD Peter Figsoski in December told investigators he pulled the trigger by accident and is seeking to minimize his sentence.

In a newly released video obtained by NBC, Lamont Pride attempts to animate what allegedly took place and explains:

I look up to clutch my hands to run...he is coming and I'm going...so it was like 'Boom.
The gun goes off as I clutch my hands to run...I'm like this running. I'm clutching my hands. I never took my hand off the trigger. That was my mistake. I was so nervous and I panicked. I didn't even think.

But prosecutors believe that the shooting was indeed intentional.

The video, shot only hours after Pride's arrest, also exposes several versions of the shooting that took place. Pride originally tells officials that he had gone to the East New York house in order to purchase weed, but later revealed that he and several accomplices were planning a home robbery and that "not everything had gone to plan."

In one of the interviews, Pride says, "The reason I decided to come forward with everything is I need to help myself out of a situation. I'm not gonna get out of it...I'm not trying to do the max."

Since Figoski's death, a memorial scholarship for his three daughters has raised over $1.9 million. The daughters also received a trip to the Super Bowl courtesy of New York Giants chairman Steven Tisch and Harvey Weinstein.
