Legendary Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, along with architectural design duo Herzog & de Meuron, will design the Serpentine Gallery pavilion for the 2012 Olympics in London. The trio previously worked together on the stadium for the 2008 Beijing games.

However, this year there is one additional hangup: Ai Weiwei has been barred from leaving the country by the Chinese government. Yet this barrier could not stop the irrepressible artist. Instead of giving up, he simply turned to Skype in order to make his voice and opinions heard. Hear Ai Weiwei talk about the logistics of his newest endeavor in this interview with BBC above.

Herzog & de Meuron are responsible for the sleek and fashionable Prada store in Tokyo, so we're curious how they'll work with Mr. Weiwei on this new project.

What do you think? Is this an unstoppable trio, or will their design be compromised in the end?

I'm not positive, but I believe with Chinese names, you'd call him Mr. Ai. Anyone know for sure?
