Droid 4 Price: Smartphone Released For $99 On Amazon, $199 From Verizon

The Motorola Droid 4 officially went on sale today, February 10.

The much-anticipated smartphone, weighing 6.3 ounces and touting a 4-inch LCD display on a half-inch thick body, is now available for $199.99 with a 2-year contract through Verizon.

But, as TechCrunch points out, you can also save yourself some cash by purchasing your new Droid 4 on Amazon.com for just $99 with a two-year Verizon contract.

Buy it today, and you'll also benefit from Verizon's one-day double-data promotion, which offers double the data for the usual price, according to CNET.

With a full QWERTY keyboard, dual-core 1.2 gHZ processor, and 8 megapixel camera that can capture 1,080p high-def videos, the Droid 4 distinguishes itself from multitude of devices going head-to-head with Apple's iPhone 4S.

The new Droid's winning feature may be its huge, backlit slide-out QWERTY keyboard, but that could change when Motorola finally makes Google's Android 4.0 (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) available on the Droid 4. The device currently runs Android 2.3 (aka Gingerbread), but according to SlashGear, an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is in the works.
